Smile Im new here...

...but not new to the Forum world.

I am looking into getting a manual G35 coupe. But I am not sure what yr to get. Is there a thread that has specifics on the difference between 03-07 models and what is the better yr?

I have searched a little here and there. Also looked at the FAQs, but couldnt find what I was looking for.

About me...

I live in WA and I drive an '01 IS300. I luv this car, but the only thing that sucks about it, is that its an Automatic. I have pondered about doing a Manual tranny swap and getting a 2jzgte and boosting it. But I would only want 400whp. And for the price of everything, I figured it would be cheaper and more reliable to get into another car that has +/-300whp stock. And I have always liked the styling of the G coupe. Is there a SC kit out there for the G?

I will have more questions, but this is a start for now.

welcome to driver and good luck on ur search for a g. i came from a lexus is300 and now drive a g lol. but they do offer many supercharger kits with many people actually prefering the vortech kit based off the reliability of vortech charger. also there is quite a few differences between each of the years both inside and outside so here are a couple of links to get you started

Welcome to the boards, soon to be a welcome to the club! Where in WA are you? We have a good size group (and growing) of G's out here, and we'd love to have you out at a meet sometime. You can see some examples, ask any questions you have and compare the G's first hand

USDM has set you off on a good trail for info, let us know what else we can clarify once you've seen some of the options out there

I did look at the 03-05 vs 06/07 thread. I did see a few differences. I just skimmed the first page and it didnt look complete, so I stopped. I just looked at it again, and did a post myself.

I did see someone post that the 06 is a good yr.

Thanks

I live in Spanaway. Where are some of your meets at? I would luv to check them out. I would go to a stealership, but I dont want to deal with someone that doesnt know anything about the car, except whats on the sticker price lol

I never worked on a Nissan motor before. How easy are they to work on, how reliable is the motor/tranny compared to a...well, lets just say Lexus, since I drive it and I have over 200k miles. Original motor/tranny/chassis on my 01

Ah nice! I work up that way quite often

We do our most regular meet in Renton and that should start up again shortly. We are going to Golden Garden's this weekend with around 17+ G's (that have signed up, more will probably be there) SO it'd be a great opportunity to say hi.

The VQ is an amazingly flexible motor, a few had issues (see Oil Consumption) But even then I had oil consumption on my 2005 and now I have a shiney new Short block courtesy of Nissan

There are many G's and more importantly VQ's with 200k + miles. My wife's FX35 for instance is about to click 120K and it's as strong as ever. Just like any good engine, you care for it, and it'll run for you all day long

Here are some upcomming events in the area! and feel free to check in on our local boards!

Nice. I have owned my IS3 for 4.5yrs now. I will either keep my IS3 and have the G as my daily. Or trade/sale the IS3 and get the G.

Oh cool. Ya, I was thinking of poking my head in at the GG this sunday. But not sure if I will be up there early enough to find a parking spot. I will probably be rolling on stock wheels. Last fall, I had a nail on the sidewall of the tire. Instead of fixing the issue, I just threw on my winter wheels. Good of a time than any, since it did start to rain and get colder. Now I have a replacement tire, but just havent had time to take it in to get mounted. Ill probably wait till the weather gets in the 60s

Renton seems to be a good mid point for Seattle/Tacoma members. Seems more members are in Seattle than Tacoma. Well, atleast for Lexus members

Thats good news on the motor being able to reach up to 200k. I will have to read up on the oil consumption issue.
