Hi all,
I've been lurking/trolling these boards for about 2 months now. Almost the same amount of time I've been searching for the right G. Well after searching/researching high and low, I've settled on a LakeShore Slate Metallic 2005 G35x w/ 71,200 miles(pics to follow). I know, I know this thread is worthless without pics.
I'm a
to infiniti's but not to message boards. I've owned a wrx and belonged to NASIOC, I've owned BMW's and belonged to Bimmer forums so, you won't have to worry about the redundant posts or me not searching first.
I have been a loyal BMW owner for many years and have owned 3 and 5 series. I just recently sold a 530i and was leasing a 2010 Honda Accord(got an amazing deal) until a few days ago
I was so bored stiff with it that it had to go(luckily broke even on it)! I was searching for a DD that was a reliable yet nice sports inspired sedan. I looked at 07 Accord V6 6spd, 05-07 Acura TL's and 04-06 Infiniti G35 sedans. After many months of searching, researching and test driving...I obviously went with the G. I am so glad I did, I have a smile on my face every time I drive it. As it sits, it's a blank canvas and ready to have its' suspension and brakes upgraded(immediate needs). Can't wait!
Look forward to learning as much as I can here and interacting with fellow G enthusiasts!

So here are some pics I took after work today. I love this color because it looks grey/silver and in other lights it has a very subtle light green hue to it. Very happy with my purchase. As far as mods go, I want to keep it tasteful and close to stock (looking) as possible.
I have to get rid of the 4x4 ride height. I've done a ton of research here and I (think) have decided to go with Z/coupe springs. The only thing that concerns me is the factory rear spring rate of the X's being higher than replacements. I am afraid of getting all bouncey in the back with stock shocks and from what I've read there are not very many aftermarket strut/shock options for the X's. I think the struts will hold up for a while but once again from what I've read the shocks will go quick. I will also do bushings and sways but havent decided which specific route I will go. Next I would like to upgrade the brakes. From what I've read and my own experience these cars are def "under-braked".
The next step will be performance. I will not be getting out of hand with this as I want to drive her everyday and will never track her. I've been reading and it seems the consensus is 5/16th's copper iso thermal(Ohio and stupid winters) spacer, z-tube(does it matter which year this comes from? Couldn't find that answer after searching tons of threads/pages) and drop-in filter are the way to go. I may do a few other small mods but as of now those are my plans. I will probably continue to spend hours on this site reading to learn more and who knows my plans may change!

Welcome to the G community! Pix looks good. I like the grass shots a lot. Adds a different look to your G.

Welcome to DRIVER! Intake, spacer and exhaust can be some of your best mods. Check the sedan section and attend a few meets in your area for good ideas. Our SEARCH tool could be your best friend....

I've put in many, many hours with the search button thus far. I am an info sponge and I will be starting with the suspension, then brakes and then (subtle)performance mods.
Thanks again.
