If it is just the bushing that normally wears, has anyone replace it with a poly bushing?

Clunking sound is only heard over uneven surfaces not under braking.

Is there a way to test the bushing such as placing a pry bar somewhere and note any movement?

Edit:

Anyone use this kit to repair a compression rod instead of buying a new rod?

Compression rod bushing can be replaced individually. The kit you linked is incorrect.

Poly bushings can also be used, actually just replaced all the rear suspension, subframe and differentail bushings getting ready to install poly bushings on front suspension and steering rack.

Part below is what you will need

Took another look underneath the car and the kit that I reference will not be the right kit. That ball joint looks like the lower ball joint for the upright.

Thanks for the link to the poly bushing.
