New '05 sedan owner - some obervations on a great car

Hi All -

New to this forum but looking forward to learning about the G35 and contributing to this community. I just bought a new (to me) '05 base sedan with manual transmission. One previous owner - a retired college professor (!!), full dealership service records (the premium service!) - and only 54K miles. I got a good price and couldn't walk away from this, and glad I didn't. The engine is what sold me - just fantastic, hard to keep my right foot out of it.

An observation and question:

-oil dipstick design - OK, I know Nissan uses this engine across their lineup and has to accomodate many design variations, but for pete's sake, is this the best they could do with the dipstick? First time I checked the oil was at night with my first gas fillup - took me like 10 minutes to get the dipstick back in. Lesson learned....

- found this in the trunk. For the life of me I can't find where it came from, doesn't look like I'm missing any trim pieces. Any ideas what the heck this is?

That's typically a cover for the seat bolts. Check the the four bolts where the seat mounts and try again.

Nice find with low mileage!

Welcome to the G35 Driver forums! Your observation on the dip stick isn't new to any of us! I never check my oil unless I have a paper towel and flash light, and that's in my garage with the lights on! Clean the guide in front of the dipstick hole, it collects major crud. Since you're new here read all the stickys at the top of the coupe and sedan pages, there's lots of knowledge there! Questions...use our Search. Good Luck and Enjoy your Ride!
