2004 Infiniti G35 Coupe AT
I've got an AT 2004 Infiniti G35 coupe. All the usual problems, gas gauge, seat belt, brakes, tires, rear spoiler lights, etc. Just about to trip 150,000 miles so I guess I can't complain.
However, this one is a new one. I've noticed a higher pitched whining noise during acceleration. The engine is making usual noise, but this is kind of an additional noise, slightly higher pitch which I can hear at lower speeds 20-40 mph, I think above that it is just covered up by road noise. Hear it mostly during acceleration, but it changes accordingly if I hit the gas. It doesn't correlate to changes in speed, but rather changes in RPM so I'm pretty sure it's not the transmission, but rather the engine.
These cars seem to have very similar mechanical histories (what happens to one happens to all). Any ideas? I've heard possibly an accessory belt or wheel, maybe a power steering unit? I dunno.
