New Female Member- NEEDS HELP!!!
So I'm new to the site and I've owned my 2004 G35 for about a year now and have only been able to drive it for the first three months of owning it and for the last nine months it's been sitting in front of my apartment. When I first got my G35 it had starter issues so I had the starter replaced and then my battery wouldn't stay charged so I replaced the alternator and bought a brand new battery at that time as well just to be safe. A mechanic friend of mine was the one who replaced all of that for me. I then had him put subwoofers and an amp in for me....but unfortunately, at that time, I was pretty broke thanks to covid, so i didn't want to pay the $250 for the dash install kit and then another $80‐$150 on top of that for an aftermarket deck so I bought a converter that my mechanic friend used for the stock Bose system that the infiniti came with.. And slowly but surely my battery started dying again and I would have to have it jumped all the time and then eventually, I was on the freeway and lost all power while in the fast lane, I had the pedal to the floor with absolutely zero power and no power steering and my car was slowing down super fast! I had to pull over on the left side of the freeway in an immediate tow away zone, so I renewed my AAA and had them tow it to my house. luckily I wasn't very far at all. And there its sat since, I want to say December of last year. I've had a few people look at it, just friends not full time men that work at a shop who are actual mechanics but there's been no success. April of this year I took the battery to O'Reilly's to have them put a full charge on it and they said the battery was bad but it wasn't even a year old at that point so they warrantied it and gave me a new battery, I put it in and drove it to my friend Kevin's who has a Nissan 350Z which I was told it's the exact same everything under the hood as the G35 so he's done all the work on his car so he was going to look at it for me. first he pulled my alternator out took it to O'Reilly's to have it tested and they said it was good which was strange so we put it back in and he said the problem should be fixed, which didn't louse I would plug my Bluetooth charger into the cigarette lighter and it will tell me the amperage of my battery for a Split Second which it's my understanding it should be between 14.1 and 14.7 when the car is running and it was at 11.7 and then 10.4 it was steadily going down so Il parked it. I thought it was weird but figuredý maybe the battery just needed time for the alternator to charge it up possibly or whatever. I didn't know lol so it sat all night and all day the next day and I went to leave that next night to go to work and my other vehicle was parked in front of my Infiniti so I pull out of the parking spot and I parked next to my other car to transfer stuff from that car back into my black car, I was so happy to be able to drive my Infiniti again and I went to take off and bam! I had absolutely no power again so I said screw this I reversed back into that spot and it has sat there ever since and I have no clue what's wrong with it. My battery will not hold a charge it's killing my batteries left and right so I figured there's gotta be a parasitic draw or it might be the Bose stock amp and radio maybe, I've read about that as well. I don't know, but I'm at a loss here and I need help so hopefully somebody has some insight on this issue. I'm a female who has never really been mechanically inclined. I know some stuff from past boyfriends and I do love to learn .... especially when it comes to my Infiniti and where there's a will there's a way ....and the way is YouTube LOL with YouTube Anything is Possible I've learned. So I'm ready for any ideas that anybody has. And if there's any G35 owners or mechanics anywhere in Seattle Washington let me know as I could use the help. Thanks guys!

Recharge the battery or jump-start the car. Disconnect the jumper cables.
With the engine running, put a voltmeter directly on the battery terminals and measure the voltage. It should be about 14 volts. Have someone rev the engine a few times while u watch the voltage readings. It should never drop below 12 volts. If it does, then u have an issue with your alternator or wiring.

First purchase a battery hydrometer which are not expensive to test the individual cells in your battery. Even a new battery can have a weak cell not accepting a full charge.

You may have a number of other issues besides the battery.
After the battery and alternator are confirmed as working disconnect the electronics that you replaced and see if your dead battery problems disappear.
With the engine running you should read 14.4v across the battery with your digital voltmeter.
Good luck
First thing I would do is pull the fuse for the stereo and amplifier, then charge up the battery again and see if it drains. If it doesn't then you have some kind of parasitic draw from the stereo system.
If it still discharges WTIHOUT RUNNING THE ENGINE then yes something is still drawing power, however with the engine running if you're only getting 11-12 amps then that's almost definitely your alternator OR the wire from the battery to the alternator.
It's definitely possible to bench test an alternator and have it show that it's working but the alternator is actually bad. Sometimes when they get hot they stop working, and it's difficult to reproduce this on a test bench.
So start by unplugging the stereo AND the amp, if it still goes dead then replace the alternator.

how do I unplug the amp oh, I mean where is it located? And you are talking about the stock amp the Bose amp correct? Because like I said I took my speakers and amp completely out. But I do know that there is a stock amp with the Bose system I just don't know where it's located.
if you took the amp out.. make sure the wire that you run from the battery to the amp has been removed.. it could be shorting the battery.. Did this all start when you hooked up the radio and stuff?

No offence but your story is kinda confusing, and long, lol. Can you specify exactly what is happening here?to me it sounds like you have two problems, but what I’m confused by is that you say you went to take the G but had no power, then reversed back into the spot…are you meaning you had a battery light on, or lost power steering like before? Is this a coupe or sedan?
