ELECTRICAL SHORT causing COOLANT LEAK and FANS to NOT TURNING ON consistently
Hello fellow VQ owners,
To start, I have a 2008 G35x sedan with 167,000 miles (at the time of this post). I've had this car for 3 months and I have been experiencing an electronic issue recently. I just got my radiator fans replaced and system bleed, but the car was leaking coolant after I picked it up. I brought it back to get fixed but I was told that it was an electrical issue. The mechanic mentioned that there was an electrical issue before I got the car back and told me that it was because of a melted wire. After fixing those things I thought that it was all good until I discovered the coolant leak. Now the car is back at the shop to figure out this electrical issue. The first set of repairs cost me $1,300 to fix and I just want to figure out what the exact cause of this issue is. Before all of this I had recently changed the battery for the second time because it had died for some reason after I replaced it the first time when first got the car. Also, my fuel and outside temperature gage aren't reading accurately. If anyone can help me identify the issue that would be greatly appreciated.

An electrical problem won't cause the car to leak coolant, but if the fans aren't turning on it will overheat and belch out boiling coolant if the temperature gets too high and pressure exceeds what the radiator cap can hold.
Fixing the fan issue shouldn't be too hard, there's not many components to it. Couple fuses and a fan speed controller next to the battery. You can test the fan for function by just turning the air conditioner on, regardless of engine temp it will put the fans in high speed.

I actually did that when I got the car back and the fans worked but they wouldn't turn on constantly. When I initially got the car inspected at the dealership they noted that the fuel gage inaccuracies were because of an AC Auto Amp which they quoted $1,257.60 to replace. I have a feeling that these two problems might be related but I'm not sure.
I had the same issue with my 08 sedan overheating cause the fans wouldn’t turn on. I ended up just changing the fan module to the fans and never had an issue with overheating ever since.
