whoop whoop thats the sound of the police

I am from Boston/Beantown/BloodyBean....or whatever you want to call it. We have a number of issues with police and profiling. Profiling especially while driving something nice. Well this post is share some of the stories of being pulled over (for instance I got pulled over one time for doing 80 in a 35 and got a warning because I was listening to some old school Luther Vandross) So share a story with board.....

I live in Sarasota Florida and the police seem to be pretty cool, but the state troopers are usually pretty **** about things. They will usually try to pull you over for anything. My friend got pulled over the other day for doing 78 in a 70. The in city police though usually if you just apologize to them they will let you go unless you were like pulling some 20 over mcguiver.

I voted Troopers

It's the highway that's most tempting to speed on, and it's then that you have to watch out for the troopers just sitting on the side of the road..

Then again, even when you go through the "Fast Lane" toll booths you need to check your speed. I got bagged going 55 mph through the "Fast Lane" at the Brighton/Boston tolls headed into Boston. The trooper was parked off to the side just up ahead of the tolls, and had his door ajar, just waiting for someone to speed through the automated toll booth. He got me - $250 ticket and 2 points. Dammit!

A few years ago...............

I drove one of the nicest 280Zs on the planet. One
evening I was headed home northbound on I-5 when
this black lady was on my bumper (she was that close) Every time I changed a lane she was still stuck to my a*s. So I shifted back two gears and took it to 90 mph. Within 5 seconds I had a CHP
officer pulling me over. I explained what was going
on and just wanted to lose the driver stuck to my
tail.....he checked my Z out and said "damn nice Z"
and have a nice day. So you see, it pays to take
care of your "Stuff."

First off, I'm in Cali. Most traffic cops suck, the younger they are the more they suck. The veterans are fairly straight foward...pull you over and either gonna give you a ticket or let you go. Some of the younger ones are looking to make a name for themselves, looking to give more than a ticket. This is my experience while doing ride alongs (in the front seat!!) with several agencies over the past few years. I don't think it matters if they are CHP or local though the CHP has to pass a more stringent physical & mental exam. Usually if they dix off duty they're even bigger dix when on duty.

Edit...it also makes a huge difference if the agency has told the troops to STRICTLY enforce particular vehicle codes, ie. pull over all work trucks (contractor) after 8pm because they "may be" driving under the influence.

I've had quite a few unfair and downright horrible experiences with cops but I have met a couple of cool ones too.

I wouldn't say one agency is better or worst than the other, I would think it depends on each cop. Some are power tripping a55holes and some are fair. You might get one in a bad mood taking it out on you or you might get one that actually sees you as a human being. I mean any job that you have to wear a bulletproof vest too everyday is pretty stressful in my book.

It just sucks when they treat you like a criminal or with disrespect for something minor when there are bigger fish to fry. I guess it would have something to do with revenue for the city, county and state. Could you imagine the revenue from fines alone?
