I have OEM 19's, but run a cheap set of Rays 17's in the snow.

Sounds like a good idea. How cheap are they? I imagine the tires for the 17's will be cheaper too. My original idea was to use my 18's for snow tires and then by the time it comes around to take the winters off I will have my new wheels by then, maybe 20" Axis Matrix's. That way the G35 will still look pretty nice throughout the year. 18s during winter and nice aftermarket wheels for the warmer cleaner months. Not to get too far off topic but I am lowered on Tein S-techs, any probems with that for winter? I have Stillen Sways too.

Well, I say cheap because they were a lot cheaper than the 19 inchers.
If you plan on getting new wheels in the spring, you might as well beat the 18 inchers to death.
This is what I paid for the Rays, there are certainly cheaper alternatives:

Very good. I have had a little time to think and now I am definately thinking I should stay with 18's, correct me if I am wrong. The reason is that I am allready lowered on the S-techs and if I go with 17's then I will be even lower for the winter. On the other hand the tires with 17's will be 55 instead of 45 side walls. Lastly if I could go 17's I saw some Volks on ebay for like $500.

Danno, you will be the same height because you get 17" winters that will be very close to the same outside diameter as your 18s. So your car will not sit lower.

I just assumed something bad was going to happen to my winter wheels, and went with ASA JH3's. Pretty cheap ($109 a piece for 17's)

I needed winter tires but didn't want to give up much in looks or performance - I have a long commute and usually its just cold not snowy.

So I went with this lightweight setup from TireRack.com - these will be going on in a couple weeks:

F:
O.Z. Ultraleggera Silver 18x8 +35 18.8lbs
Dunlop Winter Sport M3 225/45VR18 XL

R:
O.Z. Ultraleggera Silver 18x9 +35 20.8lbs
Dunlop Winter Sport M3 245/45VR18

Should look sick for Thanksgiving...

My OEM RS-As were done, so I just mounted new LM22s. Pretty quiet to 90 mph and even good in the rain. Much better than the trucky WS50s, but not like the M3s

I got Dunlop M3's, 225/45/18 all around (no stagger).

It's been pouring rain all day here in Boston. These tires perform great!!! They work awesomely in the rain - I was zooming up to 80mph tonight with no problem, even through puddles. I was flooring it up through 80mph...the only loss of traction was gettting started from a complete stop. But I really was impressed with the performance. These things work pretty damn well in wet weather.

Good to know! I just got new M3's also (had Michelin Pilot Alpin's the past 2 snow seasons) but was able to sell them on Craigslist in 1 week (had steel wheels). Now I'm mounted on my stock 17" rims for snows .

Destroid - nice winter setup! I like those. Where in MA are you at? (first time I've seen you on the forum). I too drive quite a bit (approx. 70 miles total each down up & down I-495 north of the Pike).

Thanks for that info. Good to know.

Destroid, I am liking that setup. I would like to see those pics when you get them on.
