Police Strictness on tints in MD

Hey, I'm new to this forum cause I just got a G coupe a while back. Anyways, i was planning on getting tints and wasn't sure about 20 or 35%. My friend has a blue rsx and he got pulled over with 35 but my other friend has a black 2.5rs with 20 and has never gotten pulled over. my G is black also. Any recommendations? I've heard that black tints on a black car are less noticeable...I'm in MD by the way, thanks!

I live in MoCo, they really dont care about tints, except if you are being a "HOT SAUCE". my friend has 20% all around and he has gotten pulled over several times, they did not say anything about the tint. go with the 20%.

BTW, if you do get pulled over be curteous, roll all your windows down, they want to look insied the car while talking to you, they like when people comply, and of course be respectful.

Personally 35% is too light for me. It'll look even lighter against your black paint. I've never been pulled or ticketed for my tint. I've heard there's a few local cops in Harford Cnty who will pull you over for tints. I think 35% is legal in MD. You should be fine.

35% is not legal in md. 50% is legal. but like spdd said, unless you're being a tool, you shouldn't really have any problems.

Im running 20% and havent gotten messed with yet. I know its only a matter of time though. I agree speedracer. 35% is not legal, 50% is.

If I had to do it all over again, I'd go with 35%.

charles has the correct info., but police go by total light transmission. factory tint usually blocks 12%-15%. most tint shops will tell you total light transmission with their tint application. the safest way to go is 50% tint on factory windows. i myself have 35% tint.

+100000000 you can turn the car off too and no music. As long as you didn't go screaming by him, you'll probably be ok.

Yeap 35% is the law. Now if you get 35% film put on ur windows, you could actually be at lower than 35% overall because of the slight amount of "tint" that comes from factory... thus making your tint illegal

but.... as everyone else has been saying.. go with 20%! Unless you speed alot and are always driving ur G like you stole it.

Tint in your area........?

Why not just ask a cop what is legal in your state/area? Then when you go
to the tint shop you'll have the correct answer.

I have 20%. Never been pulled for the tint on my G or my previous Maxima. Even got a ticket last Aug for speeding in Columbia, cops didn't say anything about the tint. You should be fine.
