Tint in NY - 35%, Worth It?

Alright, so I just set up an appointment for next week to have my windows tinted 35% at Secondary Exposure. I was talking to the owner of the shop and he said that he rarely does 70% but does 50% on occasion. He said that he almost guarantees I wouldn't get pulled over with 50% but its really not worth it because it's not very dark.

Now, I have black on black so I assume it (50%) would look slightly darker, but I'm not sure. I'm a little worried about the 35% because I've been reading all these threads with people getting $90 tickets for each window. I am rarely in the city with my car and I don't think the cops around me care about that kind of thing but I'd rather not take the chance. So I ask you, if I have black on black, will 50% make enough or a difference or should I suck it up and go with the 35%.

Also, what about 50 or 70% windshield tint? Bad idea? I'd appreciate if anyone could post some pictures of their black cars with either 50 or 35% tints. All replies and pictures are appreciated.

If your scarred of tickets go with 35%, but if you want the looks go with 20%, it looks MUCH better IMO. As we can see from Kennys^^^

Sorry for the bad pic. Just wanted to give you an idea.

I have 35% on the front windows, and 20% on the rear quarters. Hear is a pic in the daytime. The car is just about completely fishbowl, daytime. At night you cant really much though.

As far as getting tickets, I was recently pulled over and the cop asked me about the percentage of my windows, I told them they were 35% and he didnt give me a ticket. If he could have, im sure he would have given me one.

Over here in Guam where there are no tint laws, majority tint their windows 5% dark all around, alot of show cars here or cars into car audio competition tint dark 5% all around and full face the front dark 5%.

As for me I have a DG coupe, and have 4% dark tint all around including full front face 4%, you'll get used to driving at night, but you cant see crap inside lol!

Wow, thanks for the replies guys. I think I'm gonna go with my original plan. 35% on the sides and back, 50% on the front.

Should I go darker on the rear or not?

I would like that, but I don't want to worry about $500 in tickets.

I'm just gonna stick with the 35%.

I'll see if I can take some recent pics of it, might not go to the altima coupe parade thing tomorrow. My coupe is DG color and has modded '06 headlights my friend and I did myself, also has CCFL in clearance strip.

I had 35%. Never got a ticket or even pulled over for tint in over 4 years. However, I decided to remove the tint and go darker. 35% is too light.
