hi
I am new in this forum, not really new but first time posting,
today I got a tint ticket for having 4% tint on my car, G35 coupe,
I want to know if I pay the ticket, am I all set or do they still
have the record? by the way my ticket came out to be $250
and warning for having no front license plate
I am in MA got ticket from State Police

$250 is the maximum fine for tint.
Usually its like $100/window, $150/window, and then $250/window on your third offense.
I got a ticket for $750 for tint, went and fought it, got it down to $250

Wow I thought we had it bad here. Over here it is a flat 53 dollar fine for tint on your front windows, and not considered a moving violation. I can't even count how many I got back in the day.
Live & Learn....!
I've never heard of that high a fine just for tint....Wow! I'd question the
amount of fine on your first offense....take the tint off. What percentage
of tint is allowed in MA? You must admit with that dark of tint you couldn't
see out of your car at night....that's crazy!

35% in the state of Mass is the utmost you can have.
I got pulled couple years ago with 11% and got nailed with a $250 fine. I stripped the windows from the place that installed them and made them give me a new reciept and had the ticket thrown out. Needless to say I now have legal 35% all around on my Z. Its just not worth the hassle for me anymore.

Legal tint in Massachusett is:
NET 35% Light Emittance on both the driver side and passenger side windows, and the windows immediately following those windows and rear windshield.
Why can SUVs be darker then you ask? SUV windows are tinted from factory and are DOT approved. Tint that is aftermarket applied is subject to the 35%rule.
Believe you me, its not worth it, get it peeled and put on legal tint. It doesn't give as much privacy but hey.....

First thing is fight the ticket, I'm sure they'll drop it at least 100 bucks for a first offense.
Second thing is, 4% is probably the darkest I've ever heard of anyone putting on in New England, like they said 35% is the legal limit in MA, and even Limo's 5%.
Third, you have to factor in the factory tint your car already comes with before thinking you need tints that dark.
My reccomendation, get 20%'s and it should look pretty dark.
I mean seriously, you must not even be able to look out your windows at night, no way you can see anything through 4%.
If you want to go that dark, get a cop sticker, it might help.

well this is comming from a Mass State inspector Go for like 30%, you wont get hassled. And if you fight the ticket and they ask if you took the tint off tell them yes, trust me they will check. Just happend to my friend last week.
