Letter to Service Manager of Ramsey Infiniti, NJ
The letter below was just emailed to Jeff, the Service Manager at Ramsey Infiniti. I will post his reply once received.
Hello Jeff,
This letter is regarding my recent service experience at Ramsey Infiniti, and a few unpleasant surprises that ensued.
I came in for service with my own synthetic oil, like I've always done, and was told that this was no longer allowed. I politely mentioned that I purchase oil at approx. $6/quart and you charge $13.95/quart. I wouldn't mind a buck or two difference, but we're talking about a difference of over 100%! I was told that we must purchase the oil from the dealership so as to not deprive you of a fair profit. I also requested the installation of different bulbs for the headlight housings and was denied...was told that it's policy not to support any aftermarket parts. I would actually be fine with this if you were not practicing a double-standard. If you don't support aftermarket parts, then why do you support a custom, aftermarket remote start system from Directed Electronics, installed at the dealership by a local custom shop?
Whatever happened to customer satisfaction and the mantra of 'the customer is always right'? As a Service Manager I would think your first priority is to keep your customers happy and keep them coming back, especially in today's economic conditions. Having said that, how do you justify your current policies? what kind of feedback would you expect from your customers as a result of satisfaction surveys?
I would be very interested in hearing your response to this letter, which is posted on an Infiniti forum, to which your reply will be added. I strongly urge you to take advantage of this opportunity to address many of your current and future customers and set the record straight.
Thank you for your time, anxiously awaiting your response.
Regards,
Current and hopefully future Ramsey Infiniti customer

AlexF,
When I bought my G in November of '05, I did research on the dealerships. I heard a few discouraging things about Ramsey, not nearly as many as Salerno Duane in Denville. I ended up buying my car from Ray Catena in Edison. Its a long hike to get down there for service since I am up in Bergen County as well, but the service has been amazing. I buy my own oil, and oil filter and they don't charge me a thing. They seem to have great service across all their car brands, and since they have Porsche, Mercedes, and Aston Martin, there standards are pretty high. Plus they offered by far the best price.
