My understanding is that the customer pays for the bike but some of these bikes were built under a contract that allows OCC to show them on display for some predetermined amount of time.
Some bikes were not there. Those were built with the understanding that the customer gets it right away. Others are auctioned off right away so those are gone as well.
I would have loved to see Bill Murray's CaddyShack bike, but that's in Bill's garage, I assume.
What surprised me was the price of these things. I knew they were in the 6-figures, but the guy was telling us they average $500K each!![EEK!](https://g35driver.com/forums/images/smilies/eek.gif)
Nubbs.. he's retired and only doing very little custom stuff now. He was always given crazy deadlines and the paint jobs he did for OCC pulled in crazy money, allowing for a very early retirement.
Discovery only allows 2-4 weeks for a bike's completion, start to finish. That's why the guys are using a lot of out of the box parts. The other bikes they build are 100% hand made and take up to a year to make.
Vinney has a shop right down the street. Cody is working for him now.
Mikey is no longer employed by OCC. His contract came up and his old man felt that he wasn't doing enough to justify the paycheck.
I wish the guys were there... would have been cool to meet everyone you see each week on the show. The tour was great though. A lot of inside info was shared and although there's a lot of drama on the show, I can definitely see the business aspect of it and why things went down the way they did.
