Do not do business with Harte Infiniti (hartford)

Let me give a little background information....

I brought the car in for a squeek in the suspension (compression rod), that was covered by the bumper to bumper warranty. On the service sheet there was no notation about any vibrations at speed, and I did not notice any irregularities prior to service. I picked up the car and within two miles of leaving the dealership, i noticed a vibration at speed and called Harte immediately.

After two more visits the tech finally comes to the conclusion that 3 out of 4 wheels are bent....

By process of elimination anybody can conclude that this damage was done while under the watch of the dealership, sometime after the tech wrapped up his work and before I picked the car up... Coincidently, they wash all cars after service down the street, and the driveway has a large curb where the road height was not matched after paving.

The dealership wants to wash their hands free of this because I sought a second opinion and had tires checked and balanced by an independant mechanic before any further work was done.

After calling Infiniti Consumer Affairs, she said that this is between myself and the dealership, and there is nothing she could do because the dealership wasnt admitting any fault. OF COURSE THEY ARE GOING TO NOT ADMIT TO ANYTHING. I felt like I was asking a toddler if they had done something wrong when you already knew what they did.

Any suggestions how to resolve this?

That sucks man - sorry to hear it. It might be tough to pin it on the dealership without actual proof (you or someone else saw the tech do something, etc.). When did you have the tires checked and balanced? Was it in between the first and last visit?

I'm not a huge fan of that dealership either - Never really had an issue with service (only brought my car there a couple of times) but their sales stuff isn't great and I think they have non negotiating prices now which is ridiculous.

GL with everything.

ccc.

your post isnt the first and sure isnt the last about harte in hartford. sorry to hear that happened to you.
EVERY and i mean EVERY time i bring in my car for service there something is broken or damaged.

quick story for you my car was there over night and of course in the area that it is and no night security someone tried to break into my car. the black center piece that is on the door cover one of them has been chipped and cracked like someone was trying to pry it off with a screwdriver. i immediately noticed it and pointed it out to the service techs. of course they denied it. after contacting infiniti directly they agreed to have it replace since it was only like a $40 part or something.
they replaced it. was fine few months down the road the new cover has completely faded. so i went in for a replacement they said they have some new protective coat that would fix that. left it for the day. come back the piece is shiny but all cracked up and peeling. i told them about it they said to come back late for a re fix.

theres many more i also had one where they denied my warranty claim for a torn axle boot. i noticed it when i was changing my suspension putting in my eibachs. if it wasnt for that i wouldnt of known still.
when i was doing to lowering springs that was the last tire i took off and noticed it and continued to change it. i was too lazy to pull out the springs back to stock before bringing it in. but i wouldnt expect the outcome in any way possible.
so i bring the car in tell them hi i need my boot replaced is it under warranty. yes. i told them which one which side and where the tear was. so then the tech comes back says will not be covered under warranty because the suspension was modded. ok that bs but ok give me my car back ill buy the part and do it myself. he then tells me its going to be $100++ for labor for them to look at it and inspection that was done. so i paid over 100 for them to tell me what i already knew that i had a torn boot.

they really are a pos company. but they are the only ones in the area. which is why im stuck with them

I was surprised at how hands-off Consumer Affairs was. I have had two Infiniti's, and have sold two infiniti's based on my recommendations, and I was still treated like a lowlife over the phone.

becuase they are the only player in town for a hundred mile radius, Harte feels that they can get away with murder.

I am up in boston quite frequently and think that I will bring my car to HerbChambers for warranty work from now on

i live in Enfield, and i take the drive out to Cranston to Inskip to get my work done. I think its worth the 2hr drive, seeing how everytime i swing by Harte i see a stock G on milkcrates / blocks / ground. I went in their with my buddy and they really do think they **** ice-cream. If i had gone their originally i probably wouldnt have even bought the car

I bought mine (05 X) from Harte this past weekend. Everyone was nice and helpful, but service is kinda slow. The only bad review I have on them is when my car was being in their detail shop they never fixed what I pinpointed from the beginning. They are going to "fix" it this weekend.

Another thing is when I was finalizing my purchase the sales manager said I needed to get extra warranty for a couple grand more even though it was never mentioned to me at the time of the sale and was at last minute. They didn't budge on the price so I didn't take their offer on the warranty. Kinda shady.

Overall 6/10 experience.

When i was looking for a car, the sales staff was friendly, but very pushy, and like you said, they didnt want to budge at all. Everything was going to be on their own terms. After ten minutes of talking price, I left because it was only going to be a waste of time. I ended up saving about 4k by finding a guy who goes to the auction and buys from the nissan/infiniti auction (same one that harte goes to), and also carries some infinitis. I feel like this is Harte's way of getting back at me for not buying an overpriced car from them.

Where you from Petro? Take some advice and after your 60day/ 3000 mile warranty is done, never bring it back to Harte. Also, if the problem that you identified isnt fixed, dont accept the car back. It looks like I am going to learn the hard way on this one....

I live up in Western MA, but I work down here in East Hartford. Anyways the car is registered to my parents address under my name for personal reasons and insurance.

As far as maintenance goes I don't think that I'll let them service my car. There were a couple things "broken" when I picked it up that I haven't noticed on the weekend. Don't mean to play the blame game, but after all the reviews and such it seems very much possible.

welcome to the forum

make sure you get that cleared up right away. Make sure to write down every time you talk to them. In the state of CT, they are required to warranty for a period of 60 days or 3k miles, on cars sold over a certain dollar amount. Supposedly they also warranty any work they do for 12mo / 12000 mi, but i guess that doesnt include collateral damage.

did the technician add more tire pressure into your tires for you? sometimes you will not notice the vibration from rims if you are lower on tire pressure.

It's tough to have a call on this one if the wheels are aftermarket wheels ....

nope, stock wheels. no reason tire pressure should not have been adjusted for a control arm.... take the wheel off and set it aside
