New here, need advice

Ok guys, newbie here, don't have a G35 yet but I am very close to securing a replacement for my '01 AE Maxima, but I have some questions and could really use your help.

1. It seems that Northshore Infiniti is not the place to go (even though they're only minutes away), I got the feeling that everyone else did, maybe they're used to sell only Q's, they seem pretty full of themselves. In short they suck.

I went to Kings Infiniti (I think) in Brooklyn recently and heard the just the right thing. The salesperson (Buddy) said he could probably save me $2k-$3k on a loaded 6MT sedan with full areo and navi. Has anyone dealt with Kings and or Buddy? I also went to Competition in Smithtown and got good help from Jackie (Cute). But now it seems that most people can't get good discounts. What do you guys think.

2 Has anyone been successful with upgrading the audio system?

3. Did I read correctly somewhere, did someone say you have to hold the sunroof button to open/close. My Max has one-touch. Can any fully loaded sedan owners shed some light.

4. Last but not least, my 1st love is a 6spd BMW 540i, but who has $55k-$60k to throw around, but I love German build quality. My other consideration is an '04 Volvo S60R w/ 300hp/295ft-lbs. high-pressure turbo 2.5L 5cyl., 0-60 in 5.4 sec, 13in. four-piston Brembo braking, electronic suspension, 18 wheels on P-Zero's, 6sp (not as short or nice as the G) manual tranny at just a bit more that the G. The Volvo is making a great arguement for itself. So what I would like to know is what makes you guys love your cars? What do you like or dislike about them?

Sorry for all the Blah Blah Blah and questions, but this is a very big desicion for me. Thanks ppl.

Frank

Re: New here, need advice

i was looking at and comparing the s60r.
1st, can't find a volvo dealer who will me test it. tried two.

mechanically, it is supposed to be a great car. many on this site will say it is boxey.

G looks fast and is. R is fast but doesn't look it. stealth speed.

volvo has been getting knocked pretty badly lately on quality.

G Sedan actually has more room in it, but not the coupe.

I actually had a salesperson at Hassel Volvo in Huntington agree to give me a test drive but my work schedule never allowed me. The suspension, AWD & turbo are all big pluses espescially the turbo for mods. What kind of quality issue have you heard of?

I ordered a G35 Coupe from Bill at Competition in July. Getting the Automatic, Premium package, aero package, wheel upgrade. All at sticker price - expect deliver in Nov-Dec. I also am upgrading from an 01 Max SE. Competition will allow to test drive if there is a car available.

Yea went to NORTHSHORE and got a run around ...basically they took my money and nearly a month and a half down the road, no car and they didnt even know who i was when i kept calling to find out whats going on.

SO you know northshore has been bough out by another company so they are pretty much done. thats why they could care less about you or anyone else.

Go to ATLANTIC infiniti.... thats where we got the car from. I actually called them up from work on a sunday afternoon and set the whole thing up over the phone, then sent my family to pick the car up.
But i'm still going for service at northshore...they are the best for it In my opinion.

A fully loaded S60R will cost $45K plus, if you could get one. They are in very limited supply. If you are looking for the performance and have the cash, the Volvo is probably the way to go. Although you will not look sharp, since the Volvo is still kind of boxy.

I bought my car from Atlantic (formerly Able) and there was no haggle with the pricing. Also, the service seems to be very good for now.

I never been to other places...but i always go to northshore service dept. and they are great. always do everything right and nice to me. too bad the service costs an arm and a leg.

one of the reasons we went for G35 was... the service guy new i liked them...so he saved me one when i had to go there for a huge service. the thing had like 400 miles on it.
Needless to say... it came back to the service dept. 2 days later with nearly 700 miles and about 1/2 the thread on the rear tires. Thats how i fell in love with a G. Drifting that car in wet weather is amazing.

Re: New here, need advice

Thanks for the feedbak guys. I agree the Volvo is boxy, I just love the thought of taking out a BMW with a family safety sedan. All in all my heart still seems to be set on a G35. Now I see possibilities of AWD and a GTR version. Will this ever stop! At this rate I'll have to replace my car every year to be happy. Still better than spending $60k for a 540i.

BTW, I had my Max serviced at Star Nissan last week and they said they do scheduled maintenace on Infiniti and any type of service/repairs needed except for warranty claim which need to go an Infiniti dealer. Supposedly their service is the same and MUCH cheaper.

Still haven't had a test drive in a 6mt sedan. Anyone have any thoughts on Kings Infiniti?
Thanks

kings is the dirtiest dealership in the NYC area...much like now northshore under previous management was the dirtiest dealership on long island.

Re: New here, need advice

Re: service at Nissan for an Infiniti. I agree. I had a G20 before getting my G35 and I always had the G20 serviced by Nissan on non-warranty issues because Nissan was alot closer to me. It was never a problem and they gave me first-rate service. These cars share many of the same parts, so getting/waiting for parts was never an issue either. The only hitch I think would be that your car's service record would be split between two different places.

If you have a Nissan dealer you like and have a history with, by all means do it there if you like when warranty is not an issue.
