What should I do in NYC?

Hey, just sayin' what's up to the NE G members. I'm from Seattle, WA. Just came to NYC with my girl to hang out. We just got in Wed. and are staying with a friend in Manhattan.

Just wanted to say what's up to you guys and ask for some suggestions on some cool places to go? Stuff like good places to eat, good boutiques for my girl to shop at, or any other stuff that I shouldn't miss while in town. We don't really have any set plans...just making it up as we go along. Only plans are to see the Empire State Building, NYSE, and Central Park. Possibly the Knicks game on Sun., maybe Bungalow 8 Fri. night.

Today we got some unlimited Metro passes and went around chinatown, the financial district, and the fashion district. Saw a few stock Z's/G's, and one SB Z with clears and a front lip when we were walking around soho.

you can try to catch a broadway play. the tkts booth in times square has some great last minute tickets (careful tho, it's cold the next few days). there is also a booth down by the seaport, but they have less selection. tonite would be a very good nite for clubs/lounges/bars/etc. also try and catch the st patricks day parade if you can (that starts around 11ish). that should help you out for most of the day today.

Been workin here for about 6 months and still trying to figure out what's good... All bars seem to have a different "special" night but if you're only here for a week, who cares. Might wanna check out http://newyork.citysearch.com/find/s...ightlife.html? if you have time. Has helped me find places.

Have fun!

If you are in the fashion district again, shoot me a PM. I work on 37th n 7th (not in fashion though...If I were I think my G would be PINK!) Anyway, if you wanna try something cool, hit up THE BURGER JOINT in the LeParker Meridian hotel for lunch for evening snack! They only have burgers, fries, fountain soda, SHAKES (not during peak lunch hrs), and AWESOME brownies! It's a pretty cool place that all the famous cats hit up since it's located in the lobby of a 5 star hotel. Hotel is located on like 57th n 5th I believe.

SEAFOOD: Try Blue Water Grill in Union Square - great raw bar and atmosphere...used to be a bank.

Shopping - take ur girl to SOHO but I hope you roll with deep pockets! LOL I am sure there are bargain shops down there, I just don't know where!
Canal Street - If you want some good knockoffs, shop around! Some places have them buried so you may have to ask. If you speak the language, even better!

Chelsea Piers - $$$ but they have everything. Nothing you probably couldn't do at home!

Check out the seaport!

SPARKS Steak House (Home of the infamous slaying of Paul Castalano) - One of my favs in Manhattan along with Angelo & Maxies

There is the trapeze school on the west side hwy, horse n buggy rides from Rockefeller Center - central park..

They just opened up the top of Rockefeller Center! You may want to check that out as well! Supposedly awesome views!

I think there is somoe new club where the old Sound factory was located. I heard they got shut down their opening night, but it may be back open.

You name it, it's here....from restaurants that specialixe in PB&J sandwiches to those that do Grill Cheeses!

If you want help with restaurants, I have a 2006 Zagat at my desk, just hit me up via PM! If you want you could even have it!

Oh I forgot Museums - Museum of Natural History - They say $20 per person to get in, but what most tourists don't know is that $20 is the "reco'd donation" You can give whatever you want although you can spend days in there. CHeck out the special shows, they always have somthing different there! Butterfly shows, baseball stuff....whatever.

Njoy!

actually shopping on 5th ave is $$$$$, the village is affordable in comparison. +1 on BWG. Mortons steak house is pretty good also, in the 40s (save that for dinner). if you have a weekday w/ nothing to do, you could wait on line for letterman (they film around 5PM)

I agree w/ tkman00. Your best bet for shopping, eating and nite life is in the village because it's "affordable". There are literally hundreds of places you can go to for those three things! But if you got plenty of cheddar, 5th ave is where it's at as far as shopping.

And don't even waste your time seeing the Knicks place! They suck ! I'd prolly rather see a good Broadway play or spend your loot on clothes ! Enjoy your stay in the Big Apple!

Thanks for the recommendations...keep it coming!

Actually we did stop at Ground Zero for a few minutes yesterday, but it was too cold and windy for us to walk around to a good spot to look down at it. We'll try that another day. We walked along Canal Street too. We got there too late, so all the good replica stuff was already locked up. Guess we'll go back a bit earlier another day to check that out. We had tea at a pretty cool place in Little Tokyo yesterday too. Good news is that even though we shopped for about 4 hours in Soho yesterday, my girl couldn't find a single thing she like. !!!Whew!!!

Wanna know what's funny? I'm picking up a set of new Tokico D-Specs from a local guy while I'm here. Haven't figured out how I'm going to carry it around on the Subway and eventually to the airport yet...

heh, he can't meet you and drop it off? nyc isn't *that* big. don't bother w/ canal st (been there, done that) unless of course it's just for the novelty. check out grand central station also if you get a chance. it's right by mortons steakhouse. i'm probably leaving out a ton of things on the east and west side. when are you here until?

Well, yesterday we checked out Central Park, the Guggenheim, and the Metropolitan. Might checkout Moma or the Natural Hist. museum today. Still have yet to see the Empire State Building though...

hhmm, I didn't see on your list to see the Statue of Liberty, if you want to see it for free I will recommend taking the Staten Island Ferry going to Staten Island (It's a free ride) and this will pass by Miss. Liberty, then once you get to SI, walk a block and you can check out the NY Yankees Minor League stadium by the ferry or just take the boat back to Manhattan.
