Ladies and Gentlemen:

I am looking for the best window tint installer in the NoVA/DC/MD region. I welcome and appreciate all suggestions.

Re: window tint

United Solar Tinting in Laurel is excellent. He's done a lot of G35 Coupes and he is reasonably priced. $140 for all the windows (except the front of course). Check out the pics of it at imagestation.com:

I've seen the tint job for wjfm1 and they did a great job too. United only has 35% and 20% in regular charcoal colored tint. Don't get me wrong he has a wide selection but I wanted 30% and he didn't have it. Great guy though, Mark. If you see him mention my name (so I get credit for referring you).

Re: window tint

A caveat. He does have 5% and I think 12% but he didn't have 30%...just wanted to clarify.

I used "The tint man" in Glen Burnie. About 1/2 mile off Route 97. He has done a few G35s. Becareful with the auto window adjustments when you open and close doors because it can affect the outcome. I used my boyfriends car for a few days after I had it done. Not a bad ride.....he has the 350z.

Re: window tint

Is there a way to turn off the auto window adjustments? I had wondered if that would mess up the newly applied tint...

Re: window tint

You can but that could f#$k up your window. The window has to go down when you open the door and go up when you close it or else water will leak in. A good tint installer can take care of it for you without a problem.

After you get the tint done you need to wait at least 2 days before you roll the windows down to let the applicator dry. After that roll away. As long as you wait to roll down your windows you'll be fine. The installer will tell you what to do.

Re: window tint

Hey man, thanks. However, I didn't want to disable the window adjustment permanantly, just long enough to let the tint cure. I guess since several car makers use the auto window adjustment feature, it is pretty well known by reputable tint installers.

Re: window tint

There is a switch on the door pillar by the lock. A good installer with have that depressed during installation.

Statertan, Thanks for the compliment.

Re: window tint

Don't worry about that a good installer will know about the automatic windows and will adjust for it. I mean once he's done you have to be able to get in and out of the car and the windows will roll up and down slightly.

Bill!!! Missed you this past Saturday for the Capital G Meet. Where were you?

All you MD/VA/DC people need to keep an eye on freshalloy.com and come out with us for the next meet (whenever that is). Check with ProDrift (aka learn2turn).
