Great deals @ Wheel Works
Great deals @ Wheel Works
This is news to me. I apologize if this is a repost.
This weekend I found out that Wheel Works @ Prospect matches any online prices for tires and will only charge $10 for shipping. They also waive dismount and mount costs. FYI: dismount per tire is $15, and mounting $12.
Had I know this sooner I would have saved almost $100 ordering through Wheel Works (Michellin Pilot Sport) instead of discounttiresdirect.com.

Yeah, Wheel Works @ Prospect is really good. They have all the higher-end tires in stock that most stores need to order to get. Good guys there too. I see some nice cars (i.e. EVO, G35, etc.) there all the time.

My $0.02...Bought some tires from them for the wife's Saab, asked the sales guy if he could 'take something off' since I was buying 4 tires. He gave me whatever manufacturer's discount there was at the time even though I was buying a different model tire. Don't remember about the mount/dismount, but still saved a few bucks.
The one on The Alameda by downtown SJ has been pretty good too. Had a nail in the sidewall after just a few thousand miles so I bought one 'stock' tire. The guy pricematched Tire Rack without verifying the price.

Wheel Works is all around the Bay Area. There's one in Daly City off of Skyline and another in San Mateo off of "B" street. Look them up for locations:

Make sure you bring print outs of the deals you find online. They usually add $20 per tire for shipping from online stores...but Tirerack.com only charges $10...try to bring a print out of the total cost from tirerack.com and ask them to meet/beat it. Tirerack doesn't charge sales tax to CA since they're based in Nevada...so they will end up saving you a ton of money/time if they match it.

+1 Wheel Works does a great job, I have been bringing all of my cars to my local one here in Pinole. Haven't had any issues with them and the price matching is pretty good, but they do still charge tax over tirerack prices.
Although most people would probably cringe at letting do anything other than tire work, I had 2 suspensions installed by them w/ alignments done and no complaints. The local mechanic is pretty good. Prices are also very reasonable and you can always ask for a small extra discount and they'd oblige.
