If the mod is CARB approved, it's legal. If not, it's illegal.
Even if it is CARB approved, don't forget to put that sticker on to prove it is.
The officer won't know without seeing that sticker and will justifiably assume it's illegal.

Running with no front plate and getting pulled over is the chance we all take who do that.

Guess it depends on the officers mood if they want to try to find other illegal things on your ride, like under your hood.
Won't comment on the ones who do that, but it's quite clear what their intentions are from that point on.

Also, what's the fine for having illegal mods on the car such as an after market twin turbo on a 350z or G35??
State Ref. for the turbo,I think its going to be a fix it fine too but it going to be more then just $10.

I have a friend that had a WRX upgraded with APS turbo, APS intercooler, injectors, intake, full titanium exhaust, up-pipe, down-pipe, ecu, track tires, etc. He was pulled over and the CHP made him pop his hood. His fines added up to about $5000. He was going to just pay to have the car put back to stock but decided to sell it.

front plate

Guys,
Yes they are cracking down. I got nailed last month. Here was the explaination from the COOL officer. The other ill say was not of the same attitude. He said that with the new Lidar radar guns they aim for the front plate because of the reflective coating. He was cool and did not write me up for my windows because they are so light. I have a black g and he also commented that black cars are hard to get a good read on with the gun.
Although it takes away from the great looks of our cars... it may be a fact of life we need to accept. One thing for SURE ... if your going on ANY type of gathering/meet put the plate on before you go.
I have just used long zip ties to secure it to the air intakes on the lower part of the bumper. I just put alot of blue tape on the back of the palte to keep from scratching the bumper... After the meet i just snipped off the ties.

I simply do not get it . . . I have no clue and am definitely out of step with things, here. Understanding the situation and consequences . . . Why do people continue to invite law enforcement to pull them over?

Shoot, I am expecting any day to get pulled over for my light 50% window tint. If and when that happens, it will be of no surprise to myself. I will gladly pay the price and have no qualms about the resulting consequences. Until that day materializes, I will continue to drive my car without any worries of whether or not I may get pulled over.

Yeah I heard they were cracking down but I learnt my lesson with the no plate from our meet when we all got pulled over. I suppose if you do not give them a chance to pull you over then you should be fine for a long time.

Just don't drive stupid and you will be ok even with a few minor mods

I so dislike having a front plate mounted on my car from day one. It looked so out of place parked next to everyones' cars at meets. However, I reasoned that peace of mind was a better option than my own vanity.

I purchased 2 BS bumper plugs, last year.

. . . No, they were not intended for what you are thinking of, Eloy. However . . .

Anyways, I thought against using them after I had received them. If I can find them, they are for anyones' taking.

I got pulled over in my Maxima about 2 years ago for having my front license plate suctioned to the front windshield off of San Carlos st. in San Jose. It was a Sherriff and he meant business, so i got a fix-it ticket and got it signed off. This place is so densely populated there is rarely a cop around when you need one. Everytime I see an idiot flying down the street or turning onto light-rail tracks the wrong way down a one way street there is NEVER a cop around. And what happened to this major "crack down" on speeding that lasted 2 days?

Well, seems that everyone is agreed, here.

Given the opportunity, LE will do their part . . . So, we must do our part . . . Be smart and do not give them the opportunity.

Yea, be smart and put a front plate on........not!

My wife has driven Corvettes for years (since '84) and has never had a
front license plate on her cars.....of course she's never had a ticket! Which
I don't understand since she has a LED foot! I won't ride with her because
she scares the **** out of me......she doesn't apply the brakes until the
very last minute.....crazy! I drove my '92 300ZXTT until 2004 and never
got a ticket.......no front plate and tons of mods. But you know how those
thing go, I may get busted tomarrow for no plate and tint.....that's the
chance we take to be koooooooool!

There are so many cars that drive without a front plate. The way I see it is if your car is nice and draws attention, youre going to be the one to get pulled over for no plate. Or if you drive rediculously, but thats a different story
