Seriously, is it worth it?
I finally got tired of getting the damn no front plate tickets, got the Stillen tow hook plate adaptor and I don't have to worry anymore. I can take the plate off in a couple seconds if I go to a show, and no holes in the bumper. Not worth the hassles to go without it - plus you lose a lot of the cool factor when you're on the side of the road getting a ticket

I almost forgot that I can get a ticket for no front plate. I got one about 5 years ago with my A4.
So... Turbo G's are street illegal??? I guess there's no point in convincing my "boss" to let me get it then.
Working the late shift......

Okay, I see . . . So, some of you are willing to pay the price to look "KOOOOL." I can understand and appreciate that. It's the whiny babies that I have a difficult time getting in step with.
Look, I hate to beat a dead horse, but I'm not big on stopping cars solely because they don't have a front plate. Have I ever? Yes. Just so you are aware, read California Vehicle Code 40610(b).
(b) Pursuant to subdivision (a), a notice to correct violation
shall be issued as provided in this section or a notice to appear
shall be issued as provided in Section 40522, unless the officer
finds any of the following:
(1) Evidence of fraud or persistent neglect.
(2) The violation presents an immediate safety hazard.
(3) The violator does not agree to, or cannot, promptly correct the violation.
(c) If any of the conditions set forth in subdivision (b) exist, the procedures specified in this section or Section 40522 are inapplicable, and the officer may take other appropriate enforcement action.
Meaning make the ticket "not correctable."
If you get caught a second time, we can cite this (1 point).
24004. No person shall operate any vehicle or combination of vehicles after notice by a peace officer, as defined in Section 830.1 or subdivision (a) of Section 830.2 of the Penal Code, that the vehicle is in an unsafe condition or is not equipped as required by this code, except as may be necessary to return the vehicle or combination of vehicles to the residence or place of business of the owner or driver or to a garage, until the vehicle and its equipment have been made to conform with the requirements of this code.
The provisions of this section shall not apply to an employee who
does not know that such notice has been issued, and in such event the
provisions of Section 40001 shall be applicable.
Third time's a charm (Misdemeanor):
40000.28. Any offense which would otherwise be an infraction is a misdemeanor if a defendant has been convicted of three or more violations of this code or any local ordinance adopted pursuant to this code within the 12-month period immediately preceding the commission of the offense and such prior convictions are admitted by the defendant or alleged in the accusatory pleading. For this purpose, a bail forfeiture shall be deemed to be a conviction of the offense charged. This section shall have no application to violations by pedestrians.
Don't all go scrambling for the front plates all at once.

I see a lot of luxury vehicles big and small around the Peninsula with no plates, simply because they don't even have holes drilled in their front bumpers. These are just ordinary (but wealthy) drivers who never even thought twice about it, and it's not because it looks cool to do it. I think if your car attracts attention, cops will definitely pull you over and use it as an excuse (which is legit). I've gotten a street cleaning ticket on Lincoln last month, but luckily, the ticket was just for that. I have DIY painted bumper plugs ($2 from Lowes), so I sure can't use the "dealer never drilled holes" excuse.
The one good thing about having the front plate and bracket is that the parts can serve as a buffer against terrible drivers who can't parallel park! I just discovered this weekend that some dumb *ss dented my front bumper, leaving a ring. If you look at the reflection of the ground on the clear coat, you'll see the reflection curve up where the concave of the dent is. There's also damage already on the side of my car from parking lots. No matter where or how I park, someone's bound to hit me. I guess you can't win them all.

I agree with GoofyG28, I've seen a lot of high end cars w/o front plates, whether or not they get cited for it I do not know. And a lot of other times, I do see a front plate but it's usually some kind of chromed out plate with the car logo on it. Honestly, I know this doesn't matter in the forums. But I don't see why the government has put so many idiotic laws to where auto consumers can't spend their own money on their own car.
For example: Tinting your windows and not the having front plate, honestly, I do not see any kind of dangers that can come of that. IMO, unless the government wants to step in and help pay for my car, they shouldn't have say in what I can and cannot do to my car, with my money. This is after understanding that there are basic minimal laws that need to be followed such as, licensing, vehicle "plate", and smogging.

^ If you had to pull over cars for whatever reason(s), you might be a bit concerned if you could not see the driver or what the driver was doing, as you approached the car.
