I haven't really noticed much consumption on my car yet.. However, it has been a while since I checked my oil for consumption-- bc my damn dip stick gets stuck everytime I check it! >.< I just replace the oil automatically after bout 5K miles.
I just started my oil consumption test today and I gotta bring it back every 1000 miles... the dealership said if it's burning too much oil they will replace it with a new one.... I hope I get a new engine!!!! hahahaha

ahhh the dreaded oil consumption thread.....
anyways i'm bringing my car in this wkend....just have a few questios for those who've gone through the experience.
1) To start the test do they drain all your oil out and refill it w/ new oil?
2) Or do they simply top off and measure?
3) Do you get to choose if you have regular or synthetic? I'm running synthetic right now.
4) Do you have to pay? How much? Dealership oil change rate?
5) Can you watch? I read that some dealership are hesistant to go through the whole replacing the engine thing since they dont really get reimbursed much from nissan/infiniti
Anything else i should know? I'm am planning on heading to Beshoff this wkend...i'm on my 3rd qt of oil after 4k miles. thanks!

No, they do not reset the mileage. The odometer reading also reflects the age/mileage of the cars' other components. Actually, it is illegal to reset the said for any reason.

My V2 took a long time to completely seal and rings to set. It's doing ok with 10K on it now.
I completely forgot about this OC thread until it got bumped recently

LOL . . . It's nice not having to check the engine oil level every other day and carrying an extra quart or two in the trunk.
I am currently getting my long block replaced. I had to take my car back twice for them to verify the oil consumption. The first time the oil consumption appeared to be okay. They asked me to bring it back after another 1000 miles. I was suspious of where they were measuring from because the oil is ofter filled above the full line, which they were using as a reference. After the first test I marked the dipstick myself to verify the correct amount of oil. The day I took it in I looked at the dipstick to verify the consumption and it was really low. There was no issue them replacing my engine. Infact, they were the ones that notified me about the consumption rate. They asked me if I wanted to replace my clutch/fly wheel at this time. I currently have about 56,000 miles. They quoted me a price of $1500. I am going to call ZCG tomorrow to see if they can quote me a price. Anyone else recommend a different location with a good rep and good price.
