I've read every post in this thread and very post in 2 other OC threads on Driver, I'm also in the middle of a large thread on my350z (100 pages down-100 more to go...ugh), but I'm confused.

Question: Did a v3 RevUp engine ever come out or was the Japanese hand built v2 10102-ac7m9 the engine that is still used for oil consumption swaps? From what I've read in the past couple of hours there never was a v3, right?

Thank you.

Rudy,

It was such an uphill struggle and wait that I had forgotten most of the info. I simply put everything behind me. However, based what I remember . . . Initially, those early engine swaps were performed with State side stored engines. These engines eventually proved to be oil consuming units, as well. The folks on the My350Z boards were the first to report on this. Some people even when through 2 engine swaps with the State side engines.

At some point, in the latter part of 2007, Nissan started to issue Japan made hand-built engines. This is when I showed a renewed interest with my ongoing OC issues. This new Japanese hand built engine was dubbed the V2. I don't remember the nomenclature for this particular engine. They changed the last letter.

Shortly after I received my new engine in late 2007, Nissan issued a TSB to formally deal with OC issue. I believe that timing is correct.

John has more info on this matter. He really took the matter to heart.

Is your engine on an Oil Consumption Test, now?

Holy Cow...not you too Rudy

We still call it a V2. Couldn't find out 'officially when' revised valve guide seals were added on these replacements from Japan. They never change the part number on the V2's to know different. Same part number is used today from back when those first used and ~6mo prior to first Infiniti TSB release in Jan 2008. I was told mine had guide seal revision from my dealer back in May 2008, so possibly there's a base-line date of when that revision took place.

10102-ac7m1 was the State side replacements from USA Tennessee plant and no longer used, aka V1's.

You are correct. I believe it was November 28, 2007. Infiniti's first TSB was Jan 10, 2008.

Took to heart is an understatement haha. Those OC threads until just recently, was my life and main contrib/helping others. My post count here and on my350 is 98% of that lol.
My OC issue started in Jan 2006 (wow...that's before I joined Driver...geez)

Andy, we can talk about this in detail tonight if you're up for it. To answer your question I was 24mm low after 3000 miles which, as you know, is in the no good area on the chart.

John, I know how passionate you've been on this topic. Yes, me too but I'm being taken care of by a great dealership and I'm lucky for not having to go through all stress you first G and Z owners went through. I give you guys credit for that!

I'm getting an AC7M9. I was just worried about which long block I was getting, but it's nice to hear you say there are more things revised on this engine since the first batch that shipped in July of 2007.

Thanks for the info, Andy and John.

Good to hear no dealership games.

Even still to this day games are played across the USA from some, so sad.

Curious, how many miles on your original before going South? Mine was a fail day one new when I bought.

PM anytime. I'll help if you need anything related to this issue. I could write a book...swear lol.

I was thinking about PM'ing you last night but didn't want to bother you with this topic.

I'm at the 39,000 mile mark but I know I've been burning oil for some time now I was just too scared to start the whole process after reading all the stuff you guys had to go through. I'm lucky that I'm still under warranty and that I'm dealing with a dealership that's doing everything to correct this problem while making it as stress-free as possible for me.

Thanks, John. I might hit you up in PMs if I have anymore questions.

John . . . I have to believe that there are scores of people out there, whom have no idea what is actually happening under the hoods of their cars.

If it wasn't for my own **** nature, I probably would not have seen the OC issue rear its head at some 1200 miles. There are going to be plenty of surprised and unhappy Infiniti owners in the near future.

Hope the V2's live a long time.

My last UOA = solid metallurgy internal build, below the fuel dilute standard for this DE blocks, etc. I'm almost due for another analysis and very curious if there's anything changing internally. UOA's are FTW imho with these. Those will tell you if it's starting to go bad before dip stick will.

Now that's being ****

Thanks again John for all your time and effort and passion invested in this subject. As some of you already know from the TSB thread, I recieved my V2
"OC"' long block about 3 weeks ago. Still breaking her in and so far so good, but very early in the game. As far as UOA, I'm not going this route. If this OC chit happens again with the new V2, I'm cashing in the chips and prob going new M3 or GTR. My G35 is a great ride and I hope to hang on to her for quite some time, but will see what the future holds ........

^Anytime Paul. Glad I was able to help you with insight to the pre/post TSB approval process. Good to hear so far so good with yours.

Many don't do UOA's in general. Me = analysis nerd and love that stuff anyway

V2 Update:

My OC has increased again, though still much 'less' than original. Two possibilities: 1) pushed my Synth to far in mileage and with driving habits, if you catch my 'drift' 2) something internally is happening with build.

I'll know cause after Oil Analysis results. I'm thinking going back to an Amsoil oil or another type with awesome proven results in these VQ's from a propitiatory resource.
