Hi guys, I'm going to get an aftermarket alarm. I know a friend who says his cousin can put in a Clifford Matrix 50.5x w/o the remote start bypass for $450. I think I can buy the 50.5x for $208 alone, but I'm not sure how much a regular install might be. I feel like $450 might be too much here...

Anyone ever install the Autopage alarm from Audiovox? I read some stuff online that said it wasn't too bad, for $300 installed from Costco, thats not a bad deal, but I'd like that 1 mile range. Thoughts?

 

On a G35, I would say $150-$200 is fair pricing for the 50.5X install including (remote start, keyless entry, trunk release/protection, hood protection), assuming you bring in your own alarm.

 

That sounds about right. It will take a good few hours to install. It took me about 4 hours to do my remote start alarm.

 

Cosco? They do alarm install? But 200 would be about right. Thats how much we charge at bestbuy. For remote start you would be looking at about 75 bucks for the bypass mod and install. I would go with directed brand. I was never a fan of the audiovox.

 

Honestly though, spend the few extra dollars and purchase from the place you are getting it installed. Stores dislike installing alarms that are brought in by the customer. I know I prefer not to do so, but I will do it at my shop. The problem comes when you have a defective unit, which honestly, is not an uncommon thing.

The nice thing about purchasing and installing it at the same place is that if you have a defective component, the shop will usually replace it for you on the spot where if you bring the alarm in, they have to remove it, you have to ship it out, wait for the new part, and get it re-installed. Most shops will charge you to re-install that piece since it wasn't their work that caused the problem.

Like wise. Honestly i wouldn't even try Costco. Just spend the extra to have it done right. You don't want just anyone to work on your car. Take the time and talk to the installers and see if anyone has had experience with our type of cars. Ive seen my fair share of ****ty alarm installs where i had to fix. Rule of thumb, you pay for what you get. Good luck.

yea thats true, limeg35 just hooked me up with some local alarm shops so i'll go shop around.

 

ANyone who buys a freakin alarm from Costco is nuts!! I got the VIPER SST 5900 alarm/remote starter, it's unbelivable. It's viper's model with the 1 mile range and YES it does have ridiculous range. I got it at audioshop I always use for $550 installed with shock and tilt sensors, and a lifetime warranty on everything except the 2way pager. So many options and settings on remote start.
