Hmmm, I thought 'anything goes' was so we wouldn't have to pay for these movies

www.rslinks.org

do a search for Bluray.

Now anybody know how to convert .mkv to format that's playable on PS3? Thinking of getting Bluray burner...the Lg GGW-H20L.

Do a Google search and you will find a lot of instructions on how to convert it.

My favorite tool is ConvertXtoDVD

Yah i've been all over google and other forums. I think its a little more complicated than that. ConverttoDVD only converts to DVD resolution which is 480p. Most of my Bluray movies I downloaded are in .mkv format are 720p or 1080p with digital audio.

I can only play on desktop...trying to get it over to my big screen TV. Thinking I either have to stream in .avi format or would have to burn on Bluray burner to play in PS3.

If 720P/1080P quality that you seek, then get that Bluray burner. It's highly rated.

Bumpin it up. Just got the PS3 for my birthday, so I'm in search of some good deals on Blu-Ray DVD's.

Since they won, why would they drop the price now? if anything, they gonna hike up the price.

That's what I always argued! Although it was chitty with movie distributors choosing sides instead of releasing on both formats, I though it was better for the consumer. With one format winning over the other, it would only allow for a monopoly to be created, with the winner being able to be as expensive as they want.

But with so many people talking about how once someone wins and technology improves, players & movies becoming more affordable, I guess I started to buy into it.

Guess it was just wishful thinking on my behalf.

http://www.redkawa.com/videoconverters/ps3video9/

i use Red Kawa's Videora iPhone Converter and love it. it converts ALL forms of vids to a small package for the iphone. they display quite well in my G37!!

otherwise, there's this.

http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/arch...ystation_3.cfm

just so you guys know. the AfterDawn forums are a GODSEND for any AV conversion/transcoding/muxing needs for many different platforms. some smart people over there.

edit: just realized that post was old. maybe this info will help others?

The prices will shift downwards once the dust settles a bit. Shane is right though....supply and demand. If people keep buying at the premium price, there is no reason to drop the price. Until then, look for the sales or buy the "must have" titles when the come out. I'm still going to wait till closer to Xmas time. Historically, they have alot of deals during that time.

Here is a good site you can use to see who's got what on sale and the best online price. You can also filter your search for Blu-ray only.
