Toshiba will stop producing their HD-DVD players on March 2008.

I'm glad I had the patience to wait this one out. Now I have to decide between a PS3 and stand alone BR player. I think the PS3 can be upgraded in the future to include new BR features and you get an awesome gaming system too!

Yes, all the major stores such as: Walmart, Target, etc. and DVD rental stores/onlines such as: Blockbuster, Netflix, etc. have ceased their HD-DVD movies and will only carry Blu-Ray DVD movies.

Lucky me, I was able to sell my brand new HD-DVD player last December after hearing that Sony has signed up with the 4 major movie industries.

It seems Sony has got this one down right this time (lost the beta/vhs war). I got an HD player add on to my Xbox360 so it didnt hit the wallet too bad. Now I'm going to wait till the BR players come down in price before I keep the collection going on DVDs

Thanks for sharing Andy

^ anytime, Chris.

Might want to wait and get the new PS3. I heard a rumor that the new PS3 will have 120-160GB HD and with better Dual Shock 3 controllers.

^Sounds awesome! I figured they should be increasing the storage in the PS3 pretty soon.

Oh, and no more HD ****. Sony has refused to license the encoding technology to **** producers. Now this may not affect you (yeah, right), but what if next week they decide they're not going to license the technology to, say, companies who contributed to the Republicans, or companies with no Asian employees, or... hahaha

Sony has us all by the nuts when it comes to HD DVDs, and they will leverage the hell out of that.

Nice! Can't say I saw this one coming, but I'm glad it happened.

Now I can go shopping for a Blu-Ray player!
