Front plate and tints?
#16
I have experiences in SoCal and NorCal now with tint and front plate:
SoCal: They are investing HEAVILY in red light cameras and Villaregosa has told the police to start citing for no front plate (camera can't get you as easily). I even got a no front plate ticket with my G parked in the LAX parking lot. SO LAME! Tints they won't bother you with since all the Hollywood actors and such have their cars tinted. I always drove around cops with tint without probs. I have 5% all around.
NorCal: Different story. They will NAIL you up here. I got pulled over for tint and no front plate about a month and a half ago. I got an extension on the ticket until June. Since then I have been pulled over TWO more times since that ticket and harassed. That's Pleasanton though.
I'm not sure about a limit to the correctable violations. I've gotten a tint ticket before and just paid the fine. This time I think it went up to about $200 for the tint and front plate. Personally I can't fathom having a black G without dark tint. It helps to know people who might be able to alleviate the situation It's luck of the draw when you play with fire....

my buddy from idaho still runs with no cats... everytime he gets pulled over he just says he is passing thru and they let him go

You're going to get pulled over for sure in Norcal for the tint. Front plate is 50/50. If you get pulled over for something else they may or may not give you ticket or if they happen to just pick you since you have no front plate if they feel like it.
No front plate will get you a ticket while parked on the street in SF though. I got three of them the first month in my 350Z AND I had the new car registration with NO plates yet from DMV. Still had to pay! Haven't had one yet in my current car though. *knockin on wood*
