It was fun while it lasted . . .

but as they say, all good things must come to an end. From here on out, I can no longer be the NorCal post ***** that I once was.

Let's pause for a moment of silence.

Unfortunately, while at work today, I got the dreaded "abuse of internet usage" talk from my supervisor. Apparently, IT did an audit of the month of June (wait till they audit July, August & September! ) and found that I was one of the top users.

And since I'd like to keep my job (it pays the mortgage & my mod addiction), I will, from here on out, honor my department's internet usage policy. My posting on Driver will now be restricted to my cell phone (which has a crappy internet browser/network) and posting in the evenings from home.

Something tells me I need to invest in a laptop and a wireless internet card so I can still post from work without using the company computer.

awwwww poor rob!

yea i've heard of stories at work for people getting fired for using myspace. you can go on driver for a minute or two. when IT runs the audits, they usually look for higher numbers that stand out like 30 minutes or so. so if you go on and off for a couple of minutes here and there, i'm sure they won't even notice.

That sucks, get a iPhone, the browser is pretty good with most forums. Being where I am at and considering I run the security, my system gets a magical exemption from any reports that management asks for.

I bring my MacBook Pro in to work to do personal things. I've been travelling for 3 weeks for training. I've racked up nearly 4GB of transfer on my Sprint AirCard, I hope they have a unlimited plan. Glad its not my account

That sucks Rob. Fortunately for me, part of my job requires me to be on the internet. They can never say I am on too much since some of our applications are web based. They cant keep me from doing my day to day work.

Im sure you will find a way around. You can get a laptop for a few hundred and get a connection for cheap.

I wouldn't mind an iPhone, but I love Verizon and would hate to have to leave them just for a phone that I would get because of it's internet capabilities.

Haha . . . I would love to not have to work, but then if I did that, I'd also be a part of the no house & no car club.

I think that would be why att iPhone would be great... unlimited data package... that means unlimited internet usage is already paid for although the cheapest plan you can sign for is 70 a month with 1000 min... and att does rollback if you don't always use that much...
