Yea. If Tekka was anywhere as expensive as Urasawa, then I don't think I'll be able to fit that in my budget.

What over kind of things are you looking for to do? Other than "touristy" the only things I can think of doing is eating, drinking, and shopping.

Oh ya...if you come to SF you gotta get some seafood. Go to swan oyster depot for lunch. Order some oysters.

 

^^^I'll look into that. Thanks!! We're probably looking into just eating, drinking, and checking out some museums, and little touristy stuff during the day. Not so much Fishermans Wharf, Golden Gate, Pier 39, etc. Hopefully we won't go shopping....otherwise I'll just be following my gf around all day.

The absolute best ice cream in the area without all the fancy crap is Fenton's Creamery on Piedmont Ave in Oakland. It does seem a bit over-rated (how much better can you expect fresh ice cream to get?), but IMO still the best.

Sketch in Berkeley has very good cones.

Oh yea, Top Dog in Berkeley is a hell of an experience if you like hot dogs, etc... It's the original location, and the new Top Dogs anywhere else just can't compare...

 

I just go to Ici when there isn't a line since its right by my work. But it does have that whole fancy snobbish air to it.

How far is Berkeley from downtown SF? If I remember correctly....I have to go over some bridge then it's on the other side right?

Oh ya...this guy is from socal...they dont kno what public transportation is. =P If you want to go to Berkeley, just take the bart, which goes right through downtown. I dont think Fentons is by bart, but Top Dog is close enough.

For drinks...you can go to Ikyu in Jtown...although i dont think your gf will appreciate it very much haha. Let just say the first time I went, the 3 female bartenders were in maid costumes. It really isnt anything special, but it is a bit amusing, at the cost of being over priced. For a quieter place you can try Bourbon and Branch. You have to make reservations to get in..might be too late, but you can try. They have great drinks and real mixologist. They have a place open to the public without res called the Library, but it can get crowded. The drinks are still good though. Mr. and Mrs Smith has a few really good bartenders as well. I forgot his name, but after I ordered my first drink I just told him to make me something and each drink kept getting better.

For desert, Creations Desert House is kinda far, but its a chinese desert place that has a different type of desert than most people are used to.

I remember going to one place for dinner in the Berkeley area a while back. I think it was a seafood restaurant that was located on the water that over looked the bay. If I remember correctly it was near some Marina. This was about 6 to 8 years ago.

I'll definitely check out some of those places. I'll hopefully post up some pics once I get back.

Here's a quick breakdown of what we did:

Wed night: Dinner at Tekka
http://www.yelp.com/biz/tekka-japane...-san-francisco This place only seats 10 people at a time. Luckily we got there at 6:20pm, and we were the first in line. It was worth it though.
Then met up with some friends for some drinks in Jtown.

Thurs: Brunch at Dotties, walked around Union Square, happy hour with some friends at HogIsland oyster bar http://www.yelp.com/biz/hog-island-o...-san-francisco (This place has happy hour Mon & Thurs. $1 Oysters ))
Then we walked down to North Beach area and hit up some bars.

Fri: Breakfast at Mama's, then head over to the CA Science museum, then to Fishermans Wharf. We were trying to hit up Alcatraz island for a boat tour but it was sold out. This was actually my first time riding on the cable car. Even though I've been to SF many times before. Then we had dinner at the Marina? I think that's what the area is called. Then went to "District" some wine bar near At&t park.

Sat: Dim sum at Mayflower. I think it was on Geary and 29th street. Something like that. It was on the way to the airport.

Anyhow.....I had a blast.
