Re: DAMN!!! Accident w/ PICS
Glad to see your taking all this in good spirits. Sometimes [censored] just happens. As for the place I'm moving in for good this weekend so hopefully I'll be all settled in by the end of the month. My place is just a bunch of boxes and unbuilt furniture so far... lol. Poker night is definitely still on.

Hey Vinh...I just got home and read this thread...sorry about your loss...I am sure you will get it back better than before.
No problem about the meet on the 24th, just call me and I will come by and pick you up if you want to go.

Re: DAMN!!! Accident w/ PICS
the damage tally so far is $8700.
that's just for body work and paint. they are replacing all the body parts except the rear bumper and trunk lid.
i'm afraid there may also be some suspension damage. i drove the car home and it sounded bad. the brakes squeak now more than ever.
the insurance company is investigating the claim, but I should have an answer by the end of the week and the car placed in the hands of a body shop by next week.
i hope to have her back before the holidays. it wouldn't be the same without her
thanks again everyone for your kind words.

Re: DAMN!!! Accident w/ PICS
Speaking of claims:
I had to file a claim today for my "medical" injuries from my old sedan today...if you recall i was rear ended in December 2003...I'm stopped at a light and this lady in a subaru wagon decides to rear end my bumper didn't see me...she goes can i just pay you cash for the bumper..didn't want me to get her dl # or insurance info until a cop rolled up next to us...
her insurance company tells me to go ahead for treatment...2 weeks later...she (the lady's insurance company usaa casuality) says they're not going to pay for my medical coverages...and their b.s. was that there was no damage to their clients car...i'm going well of course not she's in a suv/wagon...there was barely a scratch on her bumper...
so i had to tell my story again to the claims adjuster on farmer's side (my insurance) and they said I am covered for "not at fault" coverages up to $5000.00 which my bill was...
I asked the adjuster if my insurance was going to be increased..she said most likely no...and she agreed I shouldn't have to fork at a single $ because I was not at fault since she admitted fault immediately...
GEE3FIVE...James...where the #W$E you been?
VINH - See you guys saturday..meet up at V's house and roll out from there...Caravan?

LOL.... Man, that reallly SUCKS!!! When i saw that first pic i was like goddd dammm, at first it looked like bad frost, then i saw it closer and man, i didnt know a fence would make scratches like that, but when a cars end breaks loose thats a lot of force, be carefull, im assuming VDC was off? Same thing happened to me coming around a turbo, i did a full 360 and luckily the cars i was turning with stopped when they saw me start to slide out, then i went up on a curb and scratched up my front bumper, not horrible but made me more carefull!!

Yikes, that hella sucks.... our group is losing a car per month it seems...!! Slow down guys!!
On the bright side, you all could simply replace your damaged cars with a nice and shiney black obsidian 6MT coupe, low milage, garage kept. ;-)

Ouch! It's unfortunate your coupe will need a new skin. Look on the bright side though, at least you weren't hurt and no one else was involved in the accident
The exact same thing happened almost 10 years ago when I was a passenger. Left turn, lost traction, overcorrected and the car went straight into the curb, snapping a bus stop sign on the way shattering the rear window about 2 feet away from my head. (I wasn't driving) I made a point to take a driving school after that. IMHO a driving school would have taught us how to avoid an incident like this one.
