Illegal Window Tint Ticket Amount

Hey I just got my damn sexy G35 Coupe 6MT the day after christmas.

Anyways I am original from Chicago where we have tint laws, but no one gives a crap, thus I had 10% on my old 4th Gen Maxima SE. And the truth is I just can't see myself going back to like anything under 30%. So I will probably be going 10% all around again on my G, so I was just curious about how much the tickets are for illegal tints in the Bay Area.

If you get caught it's just a fix it ticket plus a 10 dollar fine. Got to remove tints, take it to the CHP for inspection, mail in your signed off ticket with 10 bucks, go back and re-install tints.

No, you dont have it take off, the fine was 90 dollars if I remembered correctly, If the cop who pulled you over having a bad day? he or she could have your car towed or have you to take them off right there and then!, of course you could chose to take them off and have it signed off.

I don't know about the 90 dollar fine....I'd rather have my shop take off the tints and then re-apply for 40 bucks instead of keeping them on for $90.

PS, I mean just the front 2 windows...not back ones.

The law in Cali is NO TINT in front of the drivers shoulders. What that means is there is no legal tint on the driver or passenger windows, or the windshield of course for you Arizona people. That said, I have ALWAYS had tint. Only once was I stopped just for tint, and that was many years ago, by the @##%#$ cops in Newport Beach, because they are @#@%%@.

My experience has taught me that tint is an "add on". The last time I got pulled over, the cop asked if my windows were tinted and I said, "Yes. sir they are." I got no ticket, just a warning and nothing on the tint. I think most times they will not pull you over just for tint. But drive a little crazy (like I did) and then you have the tint to worry about.

My advice, get the tint, mine is limo. When I got pulled over, I roll down the windows first thing and keep my hands on the wheel. A little respect goes a long way, IMHO.

Keep getting caught, judge says "not correctible" violation this time, pay 300+ dollars, becomes point on record.

go to your eye doctor and have him write you a note saying you need tint because your eyes are bad w/ light and you cant get a ticket for having tint.

other than that, its cheap, but the more fix it tint tickets you get the more they cost.

The law in california is no more than 70% on the two front windows and front windshield and there is NO LIMIT for the rears and back window. Also no mirror tint. I got 20% all around and no problems YET. (knock on wood) I'd say go ahead and get the 10%

Sorry to burst your bubble, that excuse doesnt work, anything you put on front side window have to be removeble, nothing permanent.
