Did you ever figure out if these are the SSR or the Speed Star Wheel version? A pic of the centercaps and the white sticker on the inner barrel can clear th.at up..

I'm not quite understand what you are asking. In Japan, there is no differentiation from SSR to Speed Star Racing. All I know is what I bought in Japan is what's available in Japan Market. I can check the white stickers tonight. SSR is now under Tanabe, so here is the link for your reference.

I've owned both brands, so I know the difference. SSR and Speed Star Wheel are both JDM, but separate lines. Kinda like G-Games and Volk Racing are both under Ray's Engineering.

For this wheel, SSW would be a 2pc cast wheel that's welded together. SSR would be be a true multi-piece (2 or 3, not sure) that's semi-solid forged.

As I said above, pics of what I requested will clear it up.

Triple - What rims have you owned? MK-I, MK-II, MK-III, FL-II? These are Speed Star branded rims by Speed Star Wheel Co. Professor SP1 is SSR branded rims by Speed Star Wheel Co. (I guess Tanabe owns them now).

So, where are you coming from and say there are two separate brands for SP1 (SSR and SSW)? Just curious, is SSR sold by Tire Rack SSR or SSW? Do you know? It is listed under SSR, though. Just like what I bought in Japan was branded under SSR.

SSR and SSW are two different lines of wheels, both of which make an SP1 style wheel. SSR are the "real" ones that are semiforged, while the SSW version is cast. To my knowledge, the SSW version was only offered through tirerack, and it seems yours are SSR because of the sticker, but without the centercaps its hard to tell. You can differentiate the two because they have different center caps, and the sticker will tell the manufacterting location. Thats why triple8sol wants pics of those things

actually after some more research, seems like the wheels themselves are the same, and are cast. From what i've determined in my research, all SP1s are cast and the ones sold by tirerack just have a different name SSW to differentiate it from SSR's semiforged wheels. I believe even the SSR sp1's sold in japan are cast and not semisolid forged like some of their other wheels.

redlude,

Thanks for the info, but reading every posts on the link, the question was never answered. I get more confused. So many people giving different info even quoting some vendors... (site sponsors, tire rack, etc...)

I, myself, don't really care whether or not SSR vs SSW has the same or not the same product.

All I know is I have SSR Professor SP1 that I purchased personally in Japan and broght them over here (even paid duties ) since Tire Rack did not carry variety of size and products.

I guess I can call Japan and ask about it myself...

Those who PM me, sent replies.
