My G has had a rough couple of days...

My G has had better days! Granted it could of been worse but it sure sucks! Last night I scrapped the passenger side front bumper putting my car into the garage. Was pretty upset as you can imagine. Two large and deep scrapes in the corner bumper. Tried to fix it today with touch up paint and it looked ok. I thought that was bad enough!

This evening on my way out to a Mariners game I was in a slight hurry so as I was heading to the ATM I went a little fast in the parking lot and did not slow down over a speed bump. Bottomed out on one and hit pretty hard! I think I landed on my cats. Car seemed ok. Ok so as if that was not enough, on my way up I-5 near MLK exit I hit a rolled up rug! Car in front of me swerved out of the way and I smacked into it going 75mph. It hit the driver side corner bumper pretty hard. Jolted the car up and over it and the A-arm bottomed out. I got lucky as I did not lose control or hit another car. Car seemed to drive ok after that so a few min later I pulled over to inspect. Left corner light was hanging loose. No major damage. Bumper looked ok. Scrapped to hell from the back side of the carpet though. When I got home I also noticed it scrapped all along the left side of the car! Nice... Not sure what I am going to do now... I ended up just going home as I was not in the mood to watch a game...

I know it could of been worse, I have no real body damage that I can see. Just paint. I plan on having it inspected to make sure suspension is ok and what not. I might try and see if I can buff the paint out, otherwise it might have to goto the body shop....

ahhh sounds like a rough day man, thank god you're ok, hit up the insurance and tell them to fix everything that happened that day and blame it on one incident, make the body shop pay the deductible. I believe your insurance should not go up they give you like 1-2 claims a year without insurance going up if its not an accident.

I have had those days myself. I would maybe call your insurance. Don't tell them about the other prior scrape and just say that it was all due to the carpet and see if they will cover it without an increase in your premium. My insurance was pretty cool about it when I had my incidents. *shrug* hope that helps. Good luck!

I thought about going thru insurance but don't I pay the deductible? ($500 for me) How can I get the body shop to pay it???

I fugured I would need the front bumper repainted since it's pretty scrapped up ($350 estimate) and depending if the side can be buffed out or repainted that should be $200 with labor too. So either way I am paying $500+ I definately don't want my Ins going up over this!

No kidding!! I had zero notice, maybe that was good that I didnt try to swerve out of the way... My car literally ran over the rug with my front left wheel. It hopped over it and when I landed it bottomed out on the A-arm. I wonder if I did any damage. I guess I will have the shop check it out. Alignment is A ok from what I can tell so far...

You just have to be good to your local body shop, they love insurance work because they charge more than they usually do to regular clients, therefore they usually give you a break like pay for half your deductible or all of it if the job is big enough. Bit*h about every little like say you think the suspension is affected and you feel like your car is unstable now etc from the carpet.

Well decided to take a stab at buffing out the scratches. Did the sand with 2000 grit with water/dishwashing detergent. Then buffing with polisher and rubbing compond. Turned out great... I might just do that and save the $500. Then repaint the front bumper later or just get a NISMO fascia.

Good deal. I just got an assload of wetsanding capable 1000 and 2000 grit. That plus 3M should work miracles on some of my car's "character."
