There is a lot of discussion on this topic. To make a long story short, the parasitic loss from a turbo setup is less than that of a supercharger and its possible to reach full boost earlier than with a supercharger.

I believe it comes down to preference. Each one delievers a different kind of power. Much like a n/a V8 delivers power much differently than a Turbo 4 cylinder motor.

A quick google search "turbocharger vs supercharger" should net you quite a bit of information on how each works and the pros and cons of each one.

If I could build three cars all that put down 600hp to the wheels I'd do NA>turbo>super...turbo would get you more area under the curve as compared to a SC, NA would be the most responsive and fastest revving. IMO throttle response is the one of the most satisfying factors in driving a car that is usually overlooked in the quest for power, sound and looks...
I've had the opportunity to drive a lot of fantastic cars in my life, turbo, super, NA...the most fun I've had isn't in the ones that put down the largest number, but the ones that put down their power the quickest and were the most responsive to throttle inputs.

Arnab you're a pretty smart guy

I didn't take into consideration how quickly the power is given, and i agree that if I could get 600hp without the fuss of turbo/sc I would! lol

I'll probably look into turboing my car down the road, but baby steps!

Right now my car is the fastest car i've ever been in, when you get your baby fixed Jeremy I need a ride lol!

Yeah its called an LSX swap. NA all the way. There is a company that specializes in LS swaps fro Gs and Zs. Look into it. Easy way to put down at least 500 hp if you want to stay NA.

I almost bought an 01 Z06. It had 450hp and was the meanest car I have ever driven. and it was stock. I mean it was fast and had *****.

I will leave you with this: "There is no replacement for displacement."

Truth. A properly built NA > all else.
I know a few guys are currently parting out to go to an LS swap. I don't really have any idea of the cost to do something like that. And I don't know that I'd pick this platform/chassis or an LS engine for that...

I think if I wanted a true NA response machine, I'd look into an E92 M3. Better platform than a G. 414hp and 8400 redline stock. With proper mods and improved engine management I think it'd be a monster response machine with atleast >500 and hopefully ~550hp...it'd cost a bit I imagine...future project maybe.

Vette is still best bang for buck I've ever driven. C6Z06 single-handedly changed how I view American muscle.

In 2-3 yrs I am going to buy a 05 z06. I have loved vettes all my life even through the C4 years. I also want an 01 viper GTS and both cars must be blue mettalic with the white racing stripes. After that my car collection would be complete.

Sorry for getting off topic.

From my friend's inventory: 1996 Dodge Viper GTS - 000048 on the odometer, no that is not a typo. Still has the shrink wrap on the seats...

Whats the point in buying a car that expensive and only putting 48 miles on it. It couldn't of appreciated that much. Damn I just noticed those red and black wheels in the corner. Those would look great on my car!

^It's actually a BMW M1, but pretty solid guess. A Pantera nearly looks identical from that angle/crop.
