Dal's Special Delivery...[a pictorial]
Well, as you all know, Dal's car has been in California for some time now, but yesterday it finally made it home. I called Dal up in the afternoon and he told me it would be delivered to his home at 8pm...this was a lie...
I started driving north from my place towards a set of monstrous black clouds at about 7:30. It was dry as a bone near campus, and as I rolled into Dublin, I essentially got a pressure wash from mother nature. It was raining something awful. I called up Dal who assured me that the radar said the storm was going to pass and his driver was 45min out. So I rolled in through the downpour, hydroplaning all over the damn highway and finally made it to Dal's. We waited a bit and got a call from the driver who said he was in some local church parking lot.
We hopped in Dal's friend's Evo and headed out...church lot was being used by the church folk, who were wondering why the hell there was a large double trailer in their modest parking lot. So Dal took us down the road to a much larger lot to unload the car. At this point it there was still sunlight...and a mild drizzle. This would prove to be the least of our worries...
The truck follows us into the lot and we head out to meet the driver:
Truck bay opens:
What could be inside? A bike, a stationwagon, something else??:
Dal peering inside:
Dal is happy...and quintessentially Asian:
Here is what we came for, LEGACY WAGON B!TCHES!:
Oh wait, nevermind, it's the red thing below:
Admiration from everyone there, Dal checking wheel gap:
Thar she blows:
Heaaarrr she comes:
At this point, my camera decides to run out of battery...so no more pictures of what happens next:
Dal being the genius he is, had his car shipped at competition height. This meant for the next 60-90 minutes, we had the pleasure of trying to get the damn thing off the rig without ruining his carbon front lip or sideskirts. I wish I had pictures because at various points in time, we were flirting with less than a couple nickels stacked worth of clearance.
The operation consisted of many planks of wood placed on the ramps, below the ramps, striking Dal in the face, etc. It took a lot of trial and error, and I have to admit this was one of the hardest cars I have ever helped move off a rig. But the transporter was a pro and along with some patience and perseverance, it all pays off and Dal's ride gets on the ground without a single scratch anywhere. Considering the kind of crap we were doing to get this car off and the amount of times there was less than a few millimeters of clearance on his parts...it's pretty amazing that it came off in perfect condition, not to mention we're all pretty wet as it didn't really stop raining until we were done.
But mother nature decided to put on a show for Dal's homecoming too:
Fast forward...
So we make it home and begin playing:
Then Dal decides to wash his car at about 10:30pm, knowing it's gon' rain tomorrow:
Suds:
Clean and back in it's spot:
Monster rears:
Some other angle:
Yes Dal, go right ahead and put your a$$ in front of my shot aka "Nice a$$ lady":
There we go, the propah a$$ shot:
Dal still hard at work, still happy as a clam:
Lurking in the dark:
What it's like to come home...if you're Dallas Tung...PSSHH:
And so ends the hours long saga of getting a 550hp insanely lowered, widebody G35 off a trailer in a thunderstorm...on the plus side, Dal gave me a ride and now I'm two for two on being the first to see his car after major surgery, muahahahaha...
Hope you enjoyed. Sorry for the horrific jpg compression, the real pictures are much nicer...
