Quote: Which camera are you using?
canon rebel xt w/ kit lens

Quote: Now that you have the Rebel XTi you should look into a nifty fifty (50mm) lens. That is my next one. It's just a great all around lens and you get get it for pretty cheap for the 1.8 (as far as lenses go). Also if you intend on doing car shots get a polarizer filter too. photography-on-the.net has a ton of info in the forums, so just look around and see what people are using to help you decide what lens should be next.
i have an xt, heh. but yes, i plan on the 50mm 1.8 as one of my next lenses. i just registered on that forum this past weekend. hope to learn a lot.

Quote: Wow those pics came out great. They look better than some of the best pics I have ever taken!
as far as clarity goes, i think the first set came out clearer. the second half was more grainy than the first. you should come to SD so grant can take pics of your car and i can practice.

Very nice work. Looks like you're using a tripod, I need to get one...they make a world of difference.

Already?

IMO, waste of money. That lens is perfectly fine for a starter. From what I hear, it will take you alot of experience until you max out the perfomance on the starter lens.

By the way,I have some good websites about lenses if your interested.

it's relatively cheap. actually, it's dirt cheap compared to the rest of the lenses. so it's not a big deal. but i'll hit you up for those sites later.

it took me about 2 months to max out the performance on my 18-55 kit lens... the 50mm f1.8 is only a $75 and is great for the price especially since it's not a zoom lens and you get different practice with the camera from a different perspective. I've had my camera for about 6 months and i'm already ready to get the Tokina 12-24mm and the canon 85mm. I will also be getting the, as they call it "nifty fifty" just to have some fun with.

$75 bucks?

Wow, I take it back. Can't go wrong with that, as long as it does what its suppose to do.

Cal, most lenses I see usually start no less than 250, so I assumed you were going for something that expensive.

Can't wait till I see one in the mail, with Henry on its ship destination
