Actually, no... I once had low tire pressure, my fault for not checking up on it but it was probably around 20 something PSI, that's a 235/35 on an 11. Lip of the wheel got bent a little, less than $100 to fix. Mind you I was driving on the freeway, there was no shoulder but I drove approx a quarter to half mile to a safe spot. Lane markers were impossible to avoid, it's a hit or miss and I hit (as if wheel on pavement isn't bad enough).

Moral of the story: Your wheels are as safe as you are. Check pressure on a frequent basis and you'll be good. I've driven with a full load and tires rubbing constantly on the rear fender and didn't have any problems other than the obvious, tire wear.

That said, I disagree.

No prob. No two situations are alike, but quality of the wheel will make a difference. Perhaps I just had good luck, but with temperature changes always a good idea to look at your tire pressure. I was running I think about 40 PSI? Low to mid 20's isn't good for a regular tire, but when stretched, definitely a danger.

I've always considered a 225/35 on a 9.5 and 245/35 on a 10.5 to be a "safe" and common stretch. Once you start going with a smaller tire on those widths then it's as if you're beginning to test the waters. Wheel quality has a lot to do with it too. I had work Wheels. As opposed to some cheap Moz wheels I had back in the day with 245/40 on an 8.5, little potholes damaged the wheels sadly.

Miatas just not my cup of tea. I can't stand anything slammed with tons of camber and stretched tires. I'll never understand why people find that look attractive. As for the scion the spoiler is just way too much and I think Meisters are the ugliest rims also
