New iPhone Mount, or non-navi aftermarket upgrade

Well, I really hate suction cup mounts, and vent holders for phones and GPS units, and my G is fully loaded minus Navi, so I started with this little mod.

This is one half of a Griffin slider case for iPhone, which has a shell that comes in two parts. You can use any slider case of course for your brand of phone.
It is simply mounted with a foam double-sided tape. It has all the grip you need to stay in place and can still be removed easily if needed without leaving a mess behind.
The phone slides in sideways and folds in to its stealth compartment with ease.
I like the placement as it sits right at eye level.

This almost looks OEM...

Cell Mount Number Two: This flexible gooseneck mount is made by Arkon for iPhone, but they have models specific to other phones (check eBay).
The base bolts to the seat bolt on the floor. If you don't want to mount your phone it in your 'cubby' this is a classy addition in my opinion.
This is a great mount, as you can bend it - twist it - any way you want it. Upright, sideways. The point is, it's not 'fixed'. It's positioning is endless.

Did you order it from the proclip site, or someplace else? I've been thinking of ordering me one

OP, that's a creative idea I'd do that with the bottom half of my extra iPhone battery if i didn't have nav.

So basically you did the opposite of this thread, because I hate the idea of blocking a vent. It does look like a quality product though.

Could you take a quick pic of how it looks in your car, Calvin?

Edit: Nevermind, don't bother. Just looked at the pics on the site and it looks like it doesn't block the vent.

do you have to unbolt the screw to the passenger seat to install the gooseneck akron mount?

The proclip doesn't block any vents. It's the most sturdy clip you can get. Look at the the website. It's G35 specific.

Ahh ok I missed the side mount version. I just saw the vent one on their homepage. I went for the Arkon because of it's versatility. It's great.

Yes, it mounts to the seat bolt. 14mm ratchet, loosen it off, slip the base around the bolt, retighten. The hardware on this is also top notch. It's iPhone specific. And it's cool as hell that you can position it anywhere.

R

I like the Griffin case hack! Nice.

I looked into getting the Proclip but just decided to make my own mount with stuff I had laying around:

I don't really mind that mine blocks the radio. Hey, it works.

Yes the phone mount at the top of the gooseneck slides right off. It's also entirely flexible right down to the floor bolt, so you can also bend it out of view.
Alternatively, you can stick one of those plastic flowers in there like a VW and the crackheads will walk right on by.
