220kms in 1st Gear in Citroen

An American woman rented a Citroen C4 in SIXT in Budapest (Hungary) and went to Pecs (220 km). The problem is that she only used the 1st gear because she thought that the car had an automatic gearbox....

THE RESULT:

Does anyone discover a flaw, how can a car go to 220km/hr in first gear?

i guess it should have rev limiter at least?
if not, for a normal 4 banger with 5 speed, it would take like 22k rpm to go
to 220 km/hr in an average 1st gear of a 5 speed...

if that's the case, i would say..the car can really rev lol
super rev-up =)

im pretty sure shes a retard because if you are smart enough to get a manual tranny car with a clutch started, you are smart enough to shift into gear 5.

so she went 136 miles at something like 30 miles an hour...... 4 hours? being american, surely she knows theres something wrong with a top speed of 30 mph. but if that engine went that far bouncing off the limiter the whole way... it really is the little engine that could.

According to Snopes:
It's true that it is a Citroen rental car, but nobody drove it anywhere in first gear.
Somebody started the urban legend about the "American woman" after the motor just
burst into flames while rented out to a customer who was neither American nor a woman.

Exactly. This story sounds so made up. To put it in first, you have to push the shifter up, which is the opposite of an auto. You would also have to use the clutch or else you would just stall. It just looks like something caught on fire which is nothing unusual.

looks like it burned up because there's no engine oil...that might be the case? and she's at 220km/h with no engine oil !?!? Just a guess...ya, and I do agree with Godmans...
