B&M short throw shifter self install

I just finished installing the B&M short-throw shifter on my 05 coupe.

Let me tell you it is much easier to put on if you have a lift!

I would have to say that I am a tiny bit disappointed in the overall result. I have more transmission chatter now and the shifter feels very rough and mechanical, rather than smooth like the stock one.

The throw itself is dramatically different, and that is much better than stock.

I had problems putting the bolt back through the shift linkage underneath the car, but I put half to me being a novice installer and the other half due to my use of crummy jacks and no access to a lift...

I only busted my knuckles once, but I don't think I'll be doing any more shifter work by myself lol...

overall 7/10

ease of install 8/10

quality - 9/10

shift feel - 6/10

And now, its time for a few beers lol...

Thumbs down B&M short-throw shifter BROKE!

(I hope this is the proper sub forum for this topic.)

so yeah, WTF? I've never heard of this before. I was driving my Mom home from a Rite-Aid late Monday night, driving quite conservatively, and as I was exiting the mini-mall making a right turn, I engaged 1st gear and it just broke.

"Whaddya mean broke?"

It went limp. I could wiggle it, play with it, pick it up and down everything I'm not supposed to do when you're in 1st gear.

Called AAA and had the car towed back to my Mom's house. The next morning, I removed the console and the boots and looked at the shifter. In the center gasket, between the aluminum, it just snapped. Right where the grease is supposed to go.

Luckily I still have the OEM shifter at my Dad's house in L.A. He shipped it to me and I plan to install it this weekend.

Question: Has this happened to anyone else? Shifter breaking? Or does this just happen to B&M? I looked at the warranty and it should be covered. I had it installed about 2 years ago at Street Image.

on the bright side, you now have an opportunity to replace it with a RE-SS.

Anyone else have a B&M that could chime in with a review. I just received mine in the mail and after reading this review I am debating just selling it, because the stock shifter is pretty short and I dont really want any "chatter". Thanks
