Stillen Swaybars

Mod: Stillen Adjustable Swaybars

$: 280

DIY: yes

Difficulty: Easy to Moderate - Just be sure to greatly loosen up the rear exhaust pipe brackets and you will save your self a lot of time. You will also need ramps to put your car up on.

Time to install: 2 hours with exhaust pipe brackets properly loosened up.

Overall value: 5 out of 5

Review: UNDERSTEER IS GONE!!!
This isn't a subtle mod. The car handles much better with them and for $280 it's a really good value. If you take fast driving seriously, I recommend it.

Re: Stillen Swaybars

Have you noticed any oversteer either with or without the VDC on?
Difference in ride quality?

Re: Stillen Swaybars

Not particularly. With VDC off and the swaybars set to Med/Med, you still need to get on the throttle to pitch it into oversteer. Then again, I have only been driving on surface streets. The real test will be at the track.

With VDC on, you cant do much of anything.

Re: Stillen Swaybars

Run the softest front setting and medium rear setting to avoid the front end washing out more than oem.

It is the Net stiffness shift you want.
If the front bar is equal to the springs then a 10% stiffer front bar is reallly only 5% increase...........the oem rear bar is only 50% [half] as stiff as the springs, so a +50% rear bar nets only 16% rear total stiffness increase ..........+100%= only 33% rear total stiffness increase.

Re: Stillen Swaybars

so if i only drive on the street and I always have VDC on, then is this mod worth it? Also what would my settings be?

Re: Stillen Swaybars

I'm not sure if it's worth it, but I'd really want to drive a car with the stiffer bars installed. Quite a few guys seem to like the Nismo and Hotchkiss, and I suppose the Stillen, but I have not had the opprotunity to drive a car with any of the aftermarket bars installed.

Re: Stillen Swaybars

They are all great sway bars but the 350evo bars is suppose to be the best sway bars on the market. In japan the jgtc now put in the 350evo bar for all of their 350z race cars. ITs probably the best one and its around the same price as the nismo sway bars.

Re: Stillen Swaybars

Anyone know how stiff each of those holes are vs stock?

I don't want to go too stiff as I only plan to use the
factory size tires.

Re: Stillen Swaybars

I got the Stillen sway bars on my Sedan as well. This is a
great mod! The car handles sooo much better. And I don't
take my sedan off the streets, I just drive pretty agressively
when I know the trafic is clear and no cops around. I had
them set to stiff both front and rear. Then changed to wimpy
up front and stiffest in the rear. If you want to save some
money, just get the rear bar upgraded as the stock OEM
front bar is massive and does not need an upgrade. Stillen
and Hotchkiss want to sell us two bars, more money for them!

Re: Stillen Swaybars

How do the bars sound? I've read that some aftermarket sways tend to squeek more, something with the bushings. Any truth to this? Thanx

Re: Stillen Swaybars

Im waiting for my shop to get back to me on availability,
but as soon as I install them I'll let you know how the
install goes. Usually I don't get any noise when I use
lithium grease....so I'll be using that.

Im only doing the rear at the softest setting on my setup.
Once I get grippier, wide tires, I'll do the front and do
soft up front, med in the back.

Re: Stillen Swaybars

Stillen bars sound fine. I believe the reported squeek only comes from hard Urethane bushings.

Stillen uses the gresed EOM rubber bushings. But just for the heck of it, I re-greased the oem bushings and liberally dusted the grease with graphite before putting the bushings on the bars.

Re: Stillen Swaybars

I did the install tonight and used lithium grease on the
factory bushings and brackets. Works great. No
squeeks.

As for the car, the car's handling is much more refined.
Manufacturers should sell rear swaybars individually for
those that are using lowering springs and factory tires
that aren't looking for dramatic change in handling.

Any idea what the torque spec for the nut holding the swar bars in place is? My buddy used an impact wrench when he helped me with the install and I'm having a hell of a time getting the nut off now.

I just want to know if it's actually supposed to be this tight so when I finally get the sucker changed I tighten it the right amount. Now to find my breaker bar...
