Seibon Carbon hood

Im going to give a report on the Seibon CF hood. After seeing and hearing about the TS one I said screw it and bought the Seibon. The box came in and the packing was TOP NOTCH!! Great packing I was VERY impressed! Pulled it out of the box and was REALLY impressed! The edges were rolled and the weave was very good! Took my OEM hood off so I could throw the Seibon on. Bolted right up! Or so I thought! I closed the hood to find, 1. the hood wouldnt latch. 2. The hood was WAYYY off! There was a FAT gap on the sides and it look as though it was cut to short. I started my tweaking, I drilled the hood latch on the car out so I could raise it up to meet the hood latch on the hood. After adjusting it ALL the way it still wouldnt reach! I then said screw it and cut off a hook that was on a old hood. I then cut the hook off of the carbon hood and welded on the new hook. This worked perfect! BUT not many people would be able to do this. I then had to notch out the back hinges so I could move the hood forward and adjust it side to side. If I had it to do all over again I wouldnt. I REALLY like the look of the hood but fitment sux and most couldnt do what I had to do to make it work. The TS hood I saw had weave problems BUT it fit great. I hope this helps members out before they buy a aftermarket hood. Just my .02

Took me 15 seconds to adjust the hatch, easy fitment. No drilling..just lossen 3 bolts, pull up on hatch system and tighten, and your done.

What about the underside of the hood. Is there any protection against rain and getting the engine bay all wet from the openings?

Not for the gills, but the underside is all plastic coated, and very top quality in my opinon.

So water can get in from the top, but it just sits there cause the bottom is protected? Does water pool up?

With my Seibon hood, there was some minor adjustments with hood latch, closes fine with a little bit of force. " DoingOK " also has same issue with his Seibon hood.

OK this was not a matter of just adjusting the hood latch. Cmon guys I build cars! I drilled the holes out and it still didnt fit! The underside is resin not plastic. I also forgot on thing. In the middle of the hood above the cutouts the hood sags. There in no support on each side of the vents. Anyway these are only my $.02 Do what you will with it!

Steve,
I noticed you have a different model/style Seibon. There was no drilling with my Seibon TS hood, I was there when the bodyshop installed the hood, all they did was loosened the hood latch, re-tightened it, and it closes, but does require a little bit of force for latch to catch. " DoingOK " also has the Seibon TS, and did same thing with his hood.

No I had to drill the latch on the car thats how far it was off! It is still adjusted all the way up even with the part I welded on the hood itself. Hell I dunno maybe it was the style hood I got. All I know is I wouldnt do it again!

The bodyshop test fit the hood prior to painting it, just to make sure it will fit ok. Im just surprised you did not check fitment first. Hell, I would have sent that sucka back. Sounds like it was a big hassle to get that hood installed.

I did check it BUT didnt latch it!lol. I saw the problem with fitment on the sides and thought no biggie it can be adjusted so I pulled it off and painted it. Yes I was like a kid at Christmas! Ive just been rushing everything so much cause my time is short right now! Oh well its all good now. It was just a pain to get right and I know a lot of guys wouldnt want to deal with it!

Unless these aftermarket hoods use the stock hood frame they will never fit good. Thats the downside to aftermarket full CF or FG hoods...too many problems.
