Review:Injen SES +Injen CAI +04 coupe 6mt

Ok here it is:

After 2 years of research, I finally pulled the trigger on the Injen SES(fully aware of glass issue).

My thoughts:

1)It looks much better in person than in pictures.
2)Idle is more quiet than stock.
3)The overall exhaust note while interesting, can't touch the stock note. It's growing on me but if you love the VQ drone you will be disheartened.
4)To my suprise, there is no real annoying drone at 2500 rpms, as many have suggested. However, if you are in too tall a gear for the speed you are cruising at, it can get very very loud ...this can be fun.
5)Changes Injen CAI characteristics. Prior to exhaust: the intake would whistle under partial throttle. Under WOT the whistle was replaced buy a menacing roar. Post Exhaust: Constantant whistle/suck under partial or WOT when accelerating and significantly louder.
6)How is the power? Couldn't tell by seat of pants. Especially with my 260lb friend rid'n shot gun. So we put it to the test. We found a 2002+ Corvette convetible and We found a pretty red Camaro SS here are the results:

Corvette and I were lined up at a red light. I jumped on him. I had him in first. I shifted to second he inched up but I was still in the lead. Then I shut it down. Yes, it was cheap. The Vette started late. The Vette is still a faster car but it felt good to make the Vette struggle.

Camaro SS:
This was a legitamate race on the AC Express way. The pretty Camaro SS rolls by me at about 90 plus. I warn my friend about the 3rd gear pull on those cars. Then I jump right behind the camaro. He tries to pull away from me and to my suprise I actually reeled him in nose to bumper around 135 mph(Yes it probably the draft but I take it). Then he pulls in the right lane slows down to around 65 mph. I slowed down a little and was telling my friend," I'm not gonna race him from this speed cause bad things will happen". My goal was to start the race with the G in 3rd gear at about 5000 rpms. The SS finally bit. It was a tight one. I shifted at 6900 rpms..into fourth and survived(normally 4th gear is when tight races go bad but in this instance.. still even . It was the shift to fifth that allowed him to inch away. We tried it one more time same thing .Two loses but very respectable considering I had a passenger 260+ and knowing that SS is a 13.2 car in stock trim.

Bottom line the car is significantly faster. I'm happy...if only I could have my VQ drone with the added performance.
