Yeah, it would be considered a short ram intake, i dont see why not, it's worth a try for only $50 and the price of a z-tube. if it doesnt work out then you can just get any other intake for the G. If you want the best sound from a short-ram intake then the Weapon-R is for you. I've heard the z-tube/K&N and the z-tube/popcharger, neither even come close to the roar and deep sound of the WR.

Thanks for the response Gdup. After reading your review as well as Codeflux it really makes me want to go out and try one of these (with the 3.5" tube of course). Even if it is a little more and doesn't add anything that the z-tube popcharger combo doesn't do, it's nice to have something a little different. And it looks great.

Do you really think that the heat shield is really going to do anything? I've been looking over those pictures and it kinda shields the one side of the filter, but I imagine that the warm air would still circulate around the shield since it's being sucked by the engine. Hopefully in April or May I'll be putting one of these with a plenum spacer on.

I couldn't get the a/v link to work, it kept crashing my Internet Explorer, so I'll have to take your word for it on the sound.

i'll try uploading another video later. i'm going to get the heatshield and see if there is a difference, as of now, after driving just to work (8 miles) i open the hood and put my hand on the filter and it's pretty warm. After i get the heatshield ill do this again and see if there is any difference, but there could be no harm in getting it.

What would you say is difference in performance and or sound between the 3.5" and 2.5" weapon-r pipes? I'm really leaning to getting this mod and the plenum spacer either this weekend or next, but am still trying to feel them out as much as possible to minimize buyer's remorse (which I always get). How long do you think it will take from the time of ordering to delivery? I'm going to email the sales guy there with my final questions but I'm just trying to figure out everything as much as possible beforehand. Thanks for all your help.

i dont know the difference between the 2.5 and 3.5 but i'd venture to say that it's better if its the 'upgraded' version. I love my 2.5" but am thinking about getting the 3.5" tube just to see IF there is in fact a difference. Logic would state that there is a difference because the 3.5" tube has more volume hence it is forcing more air into the engine. you definitely wont have buyer's remorse if you get the WR intake, it sound beautiful, especially coupled with the spacer

oh how sick it does look. I love the look, the sound, everything about it. Especially the hiss it gives when you tap on the throttle or right when you punch it, and when you shift at high rpm's... its beautiful.

I have the 3.5" tube with a 4" filter and a 3" filter from weapon-r to test out. Ideally it would have been nice if some of the parts were specific for the car but not bad so far. The heat shield from jim wolf should work but i don't think its going to affect the car while driving as many people think since air comes from the front of the filter back...but I got jim wolf to send me a heat shield out to see if it makes a difference on the air temp at the maf...

Thanks for all the help, I'm probably gonna order one of these in the next week or so. What is the difference between the black and grey plugs, and where can I find what I need?

no difference...I will tell you the hiss sound that is common with open intakes doesnt happen when you combine their 3.5" pipe with the 4" filter...with the 3" its sort of there, but I don't care about the sound...

Glad to hear this. I really didn't want the "hiss" sound, so this is good news.

You made the right decision. It is one of the best insulated CAIs you can get that actually performs. These CAIs that go into the lower fender pull hot air off the lower concrete so its not really that cold compared to the air that is 2 feet off the ground where the stock/stillen pulls the air from.

JWT isn't a real heatshield. You still get heatsoak with a JWT shield. It isn't sealed.

heat soak isnt a major factor when the car is moving...i think the purpose of the heat shield is just to block the air around the radiator...its not like heat can go against air flow
