Really? Because I have results that go against what your saying.

Please show me your data backing your info up.

Measure it before and after in non-driving and driving conditions and outside temp as well.

i know...im in the same boat as you about the shield actually doing something and at least this way we can see if the filter gets heatsoak or not

I had the stock box w/ KN and Z-tube for 2 years. I now have the WR 3.5 w/ JWT shield. People can talk about heatsoak and check all that with thermometers, but on my car the WR is far superior in sound and power. I never tried the 2.5, but no worries with the 3.5. It works.

Not only that, but the stock airscoop is still in place and functional. I mean, its blowing fresh cool air right on the filter. Perfect? no. Good enough? I think so.

Compared to the internal temperature of the engine, is heatsoak something that is blown out of proportion?

It's not superior till you have proof backing it up compared to Stillens/JWT and others.

I dont need proof. Like I said "on my car" it is superior. People can do as they like, but the 3.5"WR/JWT works for me.

Have any of you had trouble reaching Weapon-R? I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt, but I emailed the Customer Service/Sales contact from their site last night, and a day later no reply. Like I said I'll give him a few days, maybe he wasn't in today, but I'm not particularly happy with the customer service so far. I hope he responds because the 3.5" tube and 4" filter really seem like the way to go.

Would any of you think that it's probably best just to do the intake and plenum spacer mods at the same time?

Really? Have you tested the JWT, Stillen, and other Intakes on your car before this? Where is your documented tests that say its superior?

Kindly re-read my original post. I said it was superior to the stock airbox/KN and z-tube that I had on the car for 2 years. I never said it was superior to the Stillen or JWT.

I think the WR looks better and the open filter element sound is great. If people dont like it, they can buy the others. Just stating my experience with the WR and it has been good.

And for a good part with regard to intakes . . . That's all that really matters. Enjoy!

i've done the gambit of intakes from JWT, Stillen cold air box, Injen CAI, K&N filter and z-tube, and now the weapon r...by far the worst out of those was the injen...a good combo was the z-tube with a stillen cold air box using a jwt filter...if i can get the weapon-r filter to fit into the stillen box then ill be a happy camper...the stillen box is a good design to block out heat
