I may sound like a broken record with all the other postings, but these are great inexpensive OEM mods:

z tube
06+ rev up airbox
coupe midpipe
z springs ( I know you have these already)


I haven't tried DaveB's Altima 'fatboy' exhaust tips but that's on the to-do list.

MD 5/16 spacer (copper if you're in a colder climate) and sway bars are relatively inexpensive mods that are great bang for the buck and are a must to get you to a 'sport' g35 sedan feel.

DaveB and BlueDream and many others have great examples of OEM modded sedans for you to browse and get ideas from.


Not sure what you're going to do with the sound, but if you can replace the front speakers/tweeters, do it! Any aftermarket speakers would be a great upgrade to the stock set.




I remember when I first bought my G35 sedan - I had an 'absolutely no mods' mentality because I had perceived that any modding would be expensive and time-consuming. I am thankful that I was only half right

k&n drop-in
z-tube

just got a coupe mid in the mail yesterday and can't wait to bolt that on!!

So far all of my mods are about half OEM and half aftermarket. The aftermarket pieces are:
Rear lip
Mikes Mount/Invisicord
Tein hood dampers (should have come on the car in the first place)
Tein H-Techs
MD 5/16" spacer.

OEM include:
Front lip (has become my favorite mod so far)
JDM right hand battery cover
Coupe 19" Rays
HR y-pipe
Coupe midpipe
Revup airbox
Z tube
G35Driver decals
Rear debadge (removal of OEM parts)
JDM bump clear corners

I am buying a HKS muffler next week because I like the deep, melodic tone it brings out in the VQ, and almost all of my parts have been purchased used from members on here at a significant savings over new.

At this time, I prefer the "improved stock" look as well. At my age, it's not realistic for me to have a blinging car with deep dish rims, super loud exhaust, or a stereo thumping for blocks. Back in the day, hell yes!! So I have Frankenstein'd together a perfect blend for my tastes. My car stands out to only enthusiasts that appreciate the changes, and looks stock to everyone else. Just the way I like it

I would like deep dish bling wheels to, but would cry if i curb them or can out one day and they were on cinder blocks (don't have a house with a garage at the moment) and the older mature chicks don't really care for the super load exhaust....

The days of gutted interior, strait two and half inch piped exhaust, and ebay coilovers are gone....

any chance you can take a picture of what the 350evo sway looks like from either underneath or from either rear wheel? i have the same sways, and the shop i brought it to says it won't fit.

The chassis mods I have done so far:

Hotchkis sway bars set medium in front and hard in the back (bar none the best mod so far)
Tokico D-spec adjustable shock (second best mod, together they are unbeatable)
Unrevised 350Z springs (I have some coupe back spring in the garage to be put on)
245 40 19" Goodyear Eagle GTII tires
Privat "Gassen" wheels in 19" with a +30 offset.

This thing handles like it's on rails! Come in fast, brake, set the line, floor it and it just goes. No squirm, squeal, or under/over steer.

Other mods that were worth the money:

Motordyne MREV2 lower plenum
Motordyne 5/16" spacer
HKS "axle back" muffler (don't think it added much HP, but it sounds fantastic. No drone)
Hawk HPS brake pads, stainless lines, DOT 4 fluid
Mikes mount/invisicord for Escort
Motorola HF850 hands-free Bluetooth (permanent install not the "clip on" type)

Mods that are OK:

Nismo Cold air intake (long tube) I really think the stock Rev-Up air box worked better, but it don't sound as good!
Clear corner side markers

What I still want to do:

Rouge short shifter
Big Brake kit
Bi-Xenon Fog/High beam conversion (sitting in the garage waiting)


Start with the suspension mods, it will let you make use of all that Horsepower. You got a good start.

 

So far . . . past few weeks on my 2004 G35x AWD I've done 5/16 plenum, intake with Z-tube, Stillen catback exhaust, JDM clear corners. I have ordered Racing Brake front 4-pot kit drilled and slotted for my 17 inch stock wheels, and rear larger slotted rotors, and Hawk performance street pads all around.

I want to do some work on suspension, but I do not want to do larger wheels and lower it. As far as I can tell there are no sway bars for Sedan AWD? Should I do Tokico D specs with stock springs? What suspension mods will work and be effective for this model?

 

manbart, you're setting yourself a tough challenge - even mild lowering improves handling quite a bit. I think rear sways are okay on the X, and you could do some shocks and bracing.

 

Can I do some mild lowering on 17 inch wheels and what springs would I use with Tokico D specs?

IMO 17s can look fine with the right tires. I'll let you know when I put my winter 17s on, LOL!

 

My issue is that I'm in New England where we have bad winters and also some lousy roads. I'm concerned about lowering a car that will be driven in the winter. Also I don't really want to shell out the big bucks for new wheels and tires, and I don't really need the lowered look. I'm just looking for what I can do to improve on the suspension/handling without a drop?
