If I have the black connector on my ecu and osiris will work, then why won't the cobb ap work?

Cobb stopped supporting G/Z anyway get osiris and be happy that you can!

Cobb stopped making products for the g/z, but they are also offering the acesstuner race (full tuning software just like osiris) for free. It's regularly $700.

I already bought cipher a while ago, but I like the idea of the accessport because you don't need a computer to reflash the ecu.

I checked my ecu harness connector and it is indeed black. I'll probably just sell the cobb ap and get osiris. This time I'm going to call uprev and make sure it will work before buying.

Thanks for the help, I really appreciate it! Hopefully someone figures out the early ecu for you guys!

Does anyone have some technical docs on how the early ECU works? Or have any idea where I can get ahold of them? I am a computer science student and work in the IT field. I may be able to do some programming here and get us early ECU folks taken care of.

You won't find it. Nissan keeps it under lock and key which is why there are so few real tuning options for any year not just yours.

In that case, does anyone know if it's possible to take a ROM dump of the EEPROM on the ecu using Haltech, UTEC etc?

Thats not possible with a "piggyback" system. I have osiris with rom dump enabled maybe i can try it on a older style ecu.

You should look into the CAN bus system, if you could program a module to alter that system youd have something!

for example:

The G/Z has 2 speed signals , one from the gauge cluster and one from the abs/tcm unit.

If you could find out what "programming" each signal to the ECU is then a module could be made to make the ecu see 2 speed signals from one actual signal. So they would match.

This would be greattttt on G/Z with swapped rear end gears, AND anyone who swaps a VQ Ecu into a different car, they could have working cruise control also.

So far i have not found anything like this.

Seems hardly anyone knows anything about modifying Nissan CAN systems even tho its been around for quite a while now.

I don't why someone just doesn't call the guys at Technosquare to see if they can buy the equipment they used to tune the 03 ECUs. Do that and they've got the market cornered with the Maxima and Altima crowd too.

They are uncooperative.

So I've looked into this some more... I found a ROM dump of what supposedly is our ECU. This would be a major pain to program from scratch though, because it requires a lot of trial and error. I would basically have to change some values and then reflash the ECU and test to see what changed.

I opened the file in a hex editor and there were probably thousands of lines of code, so without prior knowledge of where anything is in that code, a lot of trial and error would be needed...

Thanks. You got a link to a good hex editor? I used to use one that was included in a programming suite, but I don't want to install all that crap on this computer.

I just searched google for "free hex editor" and picked one of them. Load it up and look at all the fun you could be having trying to figure out what each hex word does to the car, lol.
