Custom Fiberglass Sub Enclosure - Interest Feeler
Hi all, I'm going to be building a fiberglass enclosure very similar to the infamous 4080 one. I'm putting a JL 10w3v3 in it with a jl jx500/1d amp for power. I also plan on making a custom faceplate for it and possibly backlighting the sub with a 5050 led strip. If necessary for extra volume, I'll be building the box slightly into the trunk floor.
Now for ordering the fiberglass and resin it's much cheaper for me to order in bulk so I'm curious what interest there is out there for an enclosure like this. If there's enough interest I may build a number of them for sale. Let me know what you guys think.

Hey Blue, what sub are you using?

I'm learning how to use Autodesk 3ds Max so I decided to play around with a design for the amp's enclosure which will go in my passenger side trunk corner. This enclosure won't be glassed; no point really. The colors (which i haven't really chosen yet) will be vinyl and ill probably carpet the rest. probably Be a LED strip hidden behind the faceplate as well.

IIRC the 4080's were in the mid to upper $300 range new. I bought mine (sedan version) used for $175 back in the day. Was running an old school MB QT 12", don't remember what model. Sounded great until it wore out. Replaced it with a generic Kicker because I was selling the car. If I have kept the car I would have gone to a JL sub since I'm running a Slash V2 300-4 for the front components and a Slash V2 500-1 for the sub.

Subscribed... Great idea. It took me a long time to find mine and one of them isn't a 4080. I was just happy to find one for each side of my trunk. I'm sure they would sell on here if the price was right. Where are you located? Shipping might be expensive if you try and sell them. Best of luck!

I haven't really decided which I wanted to run, I've been out of the car audio game for some time so I am going through everything that is available and seeing what strikes my fancy. 1.0 cu ft is a good starting point for a sealed 12", I can always add material to reduce the space if needed. However, the deepest I would run would be an Alpine Type X 12, if I could ever find one again. Those are right around 8.75" mounting depth though so that might only work mounting it inverted.
