Question Only control to move back and fourth works on driver seat

Hey guys, first post here. Yesterday I picked myself up a 2006 g35 coupe and one thing I didn't notice before purchasing the vehicle was that the only electronic control that works on the driver side seat is the control to move back and fourth. I am not to worried about fixing the problem now, unless its going to cost less than $100, but I need to lower the position of the seat very badly. It breaks my kneck trying to drive that thing at the current seat height. Any help would be great.

Unbolt the seat and rock it backwards to access everything, be careful to not damage or strain the wiring especially the YELLOW harnesses which are for the SRS system. I recommend stacking something under the bracket because the seat weighs a ton, then you can unplug the harnesses and verify there is power going to them, if you have power when you operate the switch then the motors have failed, if you don't have power it could be the switch or possibly the circuit (which I doubt since you have SOME function).

You can manually adjust the seat positions usually by unbolting the motor and manually turning the gearbox with a wrench/socket/etc depending on what the mating driveshaft uses.

Thanks man, I'm dropping it off at a mechanic tmwr for a royal flush and an alignment so I'll give it a go after that.

I was going to suggest to take a can of electrical contact cleaner and liberally spray the switch from above and let dry. That worked on our G for a while then the seat wouldn't move backward and the seat back wouldn't move forward. We currently have the seat out of the car to be disassembled for a thorough cleaning. Hopefully this will work, I don't believe we can buy a new one.

my money is on the seat switch. this symptom is so common on the forums. my passenger seat switch failed too. i took it apart and it looked just like all the pictures you can find on the internet and youtube. the contacts get pitted and covered with carbon and stop working. you can remove the switch and take it apart and clean the contacts but it's a little tricky. i lost the return spring during reassembly and had to use a spring from a pen to get it to half work. i saw a switch assembly on ebay a while back for $40 but any used one may be like the one you have. good luck.

Same thing happen to my passenger seat switch. Lost the recline function. The contacts needed to be cleaned and got a couple years out of it but its back to haunt me again. It's odd though that you lost both functions. Usually one will work and the other not. Example, my seat will recline but no go back up. So if you lost both functions I'd suspect a motor

Get yourself a 1/4 bit ratchet like this and u wont have to unbolt the seat to fix the switches.

Guessing it's for those screws on the console side which are down in the "crevice of no return".

Still, I couldn't imagine repairing that switch in the vehicle. You're going to lose something and end up removing the seat to find it anyway

Haha...I actually did end up dropping some parts in there. And the parts werent magnetic, so I used some bubble gum on the end of a screwdriver to pick them back up lol.

So I would suggest covering up the gap in between the seat and center console with masking tape so anything that falls wont end up in the depths of hell.

Driver's side seat switch is replaceable. I think it's about $100-150 new. Infiniti won't sell the passenger seat switch separately so I had to find a used one.
