The ST is the silver coupe (Derek aka Dsskyline) - he was consistently running mid 13s - had some minor problems, I'll let him explain if he chooses... The SC FX was running mid 14s (it's a heavy car, I didn’t realize it's something like 1200 lbs heave than a sedan)... I ran the fastest NA of our group; I already posted my numbers I'm AT sedan.

Rookie! Thanks for posting the vids - that's awesome... it's cool having a bunch of Infinitis back to back to back. Hopefully next time we'll have even more and get grouped with the FXs!

I had the pleasure of meeting some of you at the California Speedway earlier today (I have the laser red 06 G35 6mt coupe). Let me know if you are interested.
It was nice meeting you and talking with you at the track... I mentioned your shop and dyno offer in the post above yours - hopefully we'll get a dyno day soon... Stillen day is next month and there is a big G35 BBQ/Meet in a couple of weeks, so it might be another month or 2 before enough people will commit.

How were your runs yesterday? I saw your car once, but couldn't catch your time...

haha, I got everyone's runs. It's cool to see your own car running down the track. Wish they didn't shorten up the grandstands or I could've gotten a better angle without the k rail in the way.

win, lose, bad run, good run it's good to be trying it out on the track and not on the streets. Wish socal had more/better tracks available. Irwindale is pretty good track, the hotrods geared for the 1/8 lay down the rubber and keep it warm. Just that 1/8 comes up so quickly.

You are absolutely right on every count! Irwindale is great for 60', I am a full tenth faster there is most cases... and yes, I too wish there were more tracks - after having been pulled over 5 times in less than 2 years, I drive like granny on the streets (usually) - so the track is a fun place to go balz out!

I still can't get consistency on my 60 ft. After getting a few decent 60 footers at Irwindale, I was hoping to get atleast a 2.3 on every run at Cal Speedway; didnt happen

First run, I reved to 2800, let the clutch slip for half a second, and floored it. I guess the wheels hadn't grabbed traction yet, because I had major wheel hop. And still missed 3rd.

Second run was about the same, except I didnt miss 3rd

My third run, well they had just thrown water on the start, and I didnt do a quick burn out. Im guessing I still had a ton of water on my wheels because I only launched at 2000 and feathered the clutch, and had the worst 60 footer I've ever done or heard of (3.0 60 ft).

Consistency is my mojor priority right now.

really no point in hitting the water box and doing a burnout with street tires... I do sometimes just for the helluvit... usually go around - either way I always spin the tires a little to get any residual water off the tires. I wasn’t spinning tires as bad yesterday as I normally do at other tracks... but it's all different launch techniques. If I didn’t have open differential I'd be doing things entirely different with much better results I'm sure.

Keep trying different things till you find what works. But I'd suggest avoiding that water box for sure - it doesn’t do you any good and as you found it can make things worse.

It was all fun though. Things livened up a little when you guys all had your beauty sleep and decided to get out and throw the ball around and shoot the ****

it depends on what kind of street tires u are on. I don't know about the other tires but Goodyear eagle f1s are crap when they are cold. If u don't warm them up might as well do a regular launch about 1000 rpm and get a 3.0 60ft. One time i took a right turn when i just got off work and the rear went out like a **** and the weather was cold. But once they warm up its hard to get them loose.
BTW I am still shocked how fast ur car was.

I'm not saying don’t do a burnout... in fact I suggested briefly spinning the tires whether or not he goes thru the water box... it's good to warm up the tires not just for tracking but to pick up other looses rubber when rolling up to stage, also to dry the tire in case you got in the water at all... however, on street tires the water box isn’t needed... You can do enough of a burnout without the water... you don’t want to sit there for 5 or 6 seconds doing a burnout in the waterbox, you really won’t gain anything by it. It's fun but your just wearing your streetable tread - not enough if any benefit than just doing a brief burnout out of the water.

Henry had trouble hooking up – and he did mention the water being a problem… I really was addressing his issue… it’s a generally rule of thumb anyway, but by all means if it works for you burn some rubber brotha!!!

thanks for the videos rookie! It was great to see everyone again!! Fun times!

My best time was on my 2d run with a 14.683 @ 97.45MPH. My 60ft was 2.419 :9 I couldn't get a good grip and know my tires aren't that great, but who knows. Hopefully next time up I'll get better times all around.

LACR here I come!

I couldn't get a good grip with DRs. Rookie thinks my hks springs are too stiff in the rear when I launch.

I used to always get 2.1 and below with my old springs yesterday I couldn't get better than 2.3 and my burnouts sucked.

The next race I will change out my rear springs to the stock ones and see if it changes anything. Hopefully it will.

Did you ever diagnose the problem exactly?....

Mike,

I always tried avoiding the water box, but the water was all over the place on my last run.

I never really tried spinning my tires out of the water box (and ofcourse not on the water box). I just tried avoiding the water. I guess next time I should just spin my tires right after the water box to get them as clean as possible.

I definately need to practice my launch and find the best suitable launch technique for me.

PS. Wally, where you on the 405 North today? I could have sworn I saw a G35 just like yours, with an HKS!
